Forest How is a large Victorian House, dating back to the 1870's, set in peaceful seclusion amidst five and a half acres of natural fellside and gardens at the foot of Muncaster Fell. All rooms enjoy spectacular views across fields to the village of Eskdale Green and to the fells beyond. If you are looking for Bed and Breakfast in the Eskdale Valley, Forest How will not disappoint you!
Our emphasis is on providing comfortable accommodation and a hearty breakfast in a relaxing and friendly atmosphere. Guests are welcome to explore the gardens and orchard or, if you prefer, you can just sit quietly and watch the abundant birdlife. Frequent visitors to the gardens and surrounding fields include roe deer and red squirrels and you may spot a barn owl at dusk, circling the field for food.

The village of Eskdale Green is situated in the Western Lake District within the picturesque Eskdale Valley. The valley has something for everyone from gentle riverside walks to some of the best climbing in the Lakes. Just twenty minutes away by car is the dramatic valley of Wasdale, home of Wastwater, the deepest of the lakes and Scafell Pike, the highest peak.
We require a minimum stay of 3 nights at bank holidays and 2 nights at weekends (high season only). However, we may be able to accommodate shorter stays at late notice, please ring to check availability. Cancellations: You will be liable for the whole cost of your stay if you cancel less than 7 days prior to your arrival.
Leave the M6 at J36 follow signs for Lakes/ Windermere. Take exit off the A591 onto A590 following signs for Barrow. Three miles beyond Newby Bridge, turn right onto the A5092. At Greenodd, turn right onto the A595. Follow this road past Broughton in Furness then turn right at the traffic lights just before the bridge crossing the river Duddon.
In a world full of noise and movement we rarely stand still long enough to truly appreciate the wonders of the natural world. In Eskdale may you find the place and moments of peace to capture in your mind the living world as it should be.
Stand or sit still long enough and mother nature will start to show her wonders, red squirrels hunt in the trees, birds of prey scour the skies, buzzards circle waiting for the fallen and the deer skitter though the forest with only a bark to warn of their departure.

First time visiting the lakes and what a great place to stay. Ourselves and another group had the lucky experience of being the first guests of new owners Kate and Corinne. They made us feel completely welcome and helped us plan our route up Sca Fell Pike. Suggesting a trail which offered everything we wanted. Breakfast was lovely and filled us all up ready for a long day, not to mention the beautiful birds and Red squirrels happily eating their breakfast right outside the window. I will definitely be back again. Thank you both again, and I look forward to seeing how you are both doing next time

Be very careful!
This guest house has strict check-in times. I informed them that I would be arriving late, and was made to feel like I was causing quite a problem for them. I then ran into difficulties on the journey there, meaning that I was delayed. When I phoned to inform them of this, I was told that I may be turned away. I had to make alternative arrangements at the last minute, to guarantee that I had somewhere to sleep! I still ended up getting charged the full amount of the two night stay due to late cancellation.
I cannot comment on the guest house itself, as I never got to stay there
