The Coledale is a genuine country inn situated above Braithwaite Village in a peaceful hillside position well away from passing traffic. It is ideally situated for touring and walking, with paths to the mountains immediately outside the hotel gardens. Relax in our quiet and safe beer garden on your return.
There is ample parking and you can leave the car for your entire stay if you wish, as there are plenty of walks that can be done from the hotel. Twenty newly refurbished en-suite rooms are located in both the Georgian and Victorian parts of the hotel and have TV and tea/coffee making facilities. The inn is extremely interesting in itself.

Services
Twenty newly refurbished en-suite rooms are located in both the Georgian and Victorian parts of the hotel all having tea and coffee making facilities for that early morning refresher - or at any time you wish! Colour TV is supplied in every room. There is ample hanging and drawer space for outdoor clothing as well as casual wear for evening relaxation.
Home made meals are served each lunchtime and evening in the dining room. Evening meals may be selected from our extensive menu or from our "specials" blackboard on display. There are vegetarian meals on the menu as well as Children's meals. If you have any particular dietary requirements, please contact The Coledale Inn.
Our best value tariff for 2021 means that a visit to the Coledale Inn offers even better value. Twenty newly renovated en-suite rooms and residents lounge are located in both the Georgian and Victorian parts of the hotel. All rooms have similar facilities; they are en-suite with a shower and have flat screen TVs and tea making facilities.
Braithwaite is not exactly a big place, and one can see The Coledale Inn as one enters the village, but it can be a little confusing as to which road to take to get there the first time. Assuming you are approaching from the A66 Keswick to Cockermouth Road, just west of Keswick take the left branch signed to Buttermere, Braithwaite etc.
The area immediately around the Coledale Inn is some of the best walking country in the Lake District. Its deep valleys are surrounded by mountains, rising steeply from the valley floors, so height is gained quickly. There are not the crowds of the central fells, but the views are superb. The walking is good, but not dangerous with normal precautions.

Lovely dog friendly pub Good beer really let's itself down with food cheap processed food at homemade prices, for such a lovely pub it was a shame the food wasn't even on par with motorway services! It was that bad! Drink yes do not eat here. Example £15 for cheap oven chips and scampi that you'd find in the value section at Iceland.

Really nice country pub that we've been going to on and off for over twenty years. It has a lovely beer garden situated in the front of the pub which is on different levels. The car park is at the front too, but that doesn't really make any difference. You need to book if at the weekend or on a school hol etc if you want to sit inside to eat. Outside is just get a seat and order. Last time we were there, they'd messed up our booking and it was a bit chaotic due to the fact most places allow for a two hour slot. About fifteen minutes were taken trying to allocate us a table as they'd double booked
