The Heights Hotel will provide you with an excellent base from which to explore Cumbria & the Northern and Western Lakes whether; walking cycling or driving. Enjoy a drink and relax; take in the Lakes and fells; Skiddaw, Bassenthwaite, Blencathra and Catbells. Your hosts welcome you with a friendly family atmosphere to The Heights Hotel where we have a 17th century bar and beer garden, ample free parking and many outstanding walks.
Services
The bar, with its welcoming fire, was converted from the original 17th century Cumbrian cottage. The main section of the traditional lakeland stone house was added in Victorian times. Both the bar and lounge are great places to relax after a hard days walking, climbing, cycling, touring, sightseeing or what ever the days activity brings.
Follow A66 towards Keswick and take the exit signed to Keswick/Windermere A 591. At the junction with the A591 on Chestnut Hill, turn left, up the hill, towards Windermere. Passing Manor Brow on the right, continue up the hill for a total of 0.6 miles. The next right is Rakefoot Lane (there is a large, brown tourist sign to Castlerigg Hall and the Heights).

Little gem. While the restaurant was closed due to bad weather, they were happy to accommodate by cooking up some delicious vegan Chips and deep fried carrots. Delicious with a cold local pint!

A dated place yes, but for vegetarian and vegan food options it is amazing, and you can't argue with value for money. I would certainly recommend for food. It's not a pub environment where you could have children running amok, instead a quiet pint of local brewed ale.

Amazing vegetarian meal. My boyfriend rarely eats vegetarian meals but said it was the best he's ever had. The 'duck' wraps were delicious. Small non-resident bar and it is a little dated but it's nice and the staff are friendly. The beer garden is lovely too.
