Duff House Royal Golf Club
Welcome to Duff House Royal Golf Club, one of the outstanding courses in the North of Scotland. Proud hosts of the 2021 Scottish Senior Men's Open Championship. Our Alister MacKenzie course is ranked just outside the Top 50 courses in the Scotland, an accolade richly deserved. The course, which sets a demanding scratch of 68, is set in a beautiful, manicured parkland setting which surprises with glimpses of the Moray Firth.

The famous River Deveron, the challenge to many an angler, borders five holes and flows into the sea through the seven-span Banff Bridge, and forms the backdrop to the closing holes. Honorary member Ewen Murray of Sky Sports can often be found on the banks if not on the course. Nestling within the borders of the tree-lined course is Duff House, considered one of the grandest classical country houses built in the 18th century.
Services
Opened in 1910, the original course was designed by Archie Simpson (who laid out Royal Aberdeen's Balgownie) and it was formally opened when a match was played between two of the great golfing "triumvirate" - J.H. Taylor (the then Open Champion) and James Braid - with Taylor's score of 75 beating his opponent by three strokes.
From Scottish Golf; Dear Team Manager, We hope you, the juniors and their parents all enjoyed today's regional qualifier at Duff House. Well Done to all in our 56th Annual Cowie Cup Open Gross 1st - I. Cowie + M. Cowie - 72 (Trophy Winners) 2nd - S. Gauld + P. Gauld - 75. Find below our Matchplay Draws for Scratch, Low Handicap and High Handicap alongside the draw for the Stableford Consolation tomorrow.
Play against your friends in a match around DHR, designed by Alister MacKenzie course designer to Augusta National. You can either play the course before you arrive or maybe just try and master the real course if you have visited us before. This representation of the course is fair with the virtual course designers attention to detail.
The course is a challenging par 68 for Gents or a par 72 for Ladies. It is bounded by the River Deveron, which proves to be a hazard at a number of holes. Duff House Royal has achieved an excellent reputation for providing an outstanding course with large MacKenzie two-tiered greens.

It was redesigned in 1923, by the legendary Dr Alister MacKenzie, who also designed the world famous 'Augusta National', Home of The Masters and 'The Old Course' at St Andrews.Duff House Royal still, till this day, retains the design set out by MacKenzie.
Currently we have a number of membership types available, including both playing and non playing. Membership year runs from January to January. Becoming a member is simple. Fantastic Christmas lunch today for our yoga group! The food and service from John and his team ✅ first class 👌🏻 Not sure how I’ll manage 2 more yoga classes tonight though, as the helpings were generous 🤣 A few mentioned the Xmas pudding was the best they’d ever tasted! Everything was absolutely lovely, thanks again ⭐️

Well kept course. Don't be lulled in to thinking it is easy. Fantastic course to be played more than once.

Reasonable selection for a small pro shop and club.
Unfortunately DHR holds a less than enviable reputation for snobbery, certainly several members display a standoffish attitude. The course itself is in fair condition, mostly, and enjoyable.

Beautiful course let down by a frosty “welcome” at the clubhouse. Checked in at pro shop and asked would it be ok to get a quick bite to eat in the clubhouse before teeing off. No problem just go around the front and press the buzzer. On the third buzz a young lady appeared and said it’s a members only club and wasn’t open to visitors. This was after I explained we had a tee off time in half an hour. The penny finally dropped and we were let in. On being seated this lady continued in a rude and off hand manner. Honestly I was aghast at such poor customer service. Took the edge off our round

Great place to visit any time... You can wander round the beautiful house, then enjoy a walk to the Bridge of Alvah with its beautiful views, then if your feeling extra energetic continue the walk which takes you to Montcoffer and back to Banff.

One of the best parkland golf courses I've played in Scotland, beautiful layout and the condition is superb, very friendly and helpful staff in the pro shop & restaurant, if your golfing don't miss it.
