The Black Swan Pub & Restaurant
Located just 1 mile from the M23 and Pease Pottage services, the Black Swan is the perfect example of a quality and friendly English village pub. Family friendly with a large garden, function room, great food, drinks and coffee, a cosy bar and roaring fires, the Black Swan is the perfect place to relax and unwind.

The pub, which dates back to the 19th century, had its name changed in the 1980s to 'The James King' by its then owners, King & Barnes brewery, but when Hall & Woodhouse acquired King & Barnes in 2001 they reinstated the 'Black Swan' as the name.
Services
We've been working hard over the past few months to make sure all of our delicious food dishes are just that little bit better. As well as our usual favourites like Steak & Tangle Foot Pie, Hand-Battered Fish & Chips and our famous H&W Burger, we've also got a range of tasty sandwiches and of course our delicious Sunday Roasts, which we think are the best (apart from Mum's!).
We've got a great range of drinks, as any quality village pub should. The stars of the show are our Badger beers, brewed within 100 miles of us right in the heart of the Dorset countryside by Hall & Woodhouse and delivered fresh to us every week. Then there's a range of quality lagers and wines from all over the world, all the best spirits and soft drinks, so you're guaranteed to find something to quench your thirst.
One of the delights of the perfect English Country pub is that it is at the heart of its community a place where people can come together. That's why we believe it's so important for us to give something back to our local community. Community is incredibly important to us and as part of this, we help to fundraise for a local charity.
Exit at junction 11 of M23, at the roundabout take the first exit onto Brighton Road (B2114), at the next roundabout take the 3rd exit onto Horsham Rd, the Black Swan will be on your right after 0.2 miles. Leave Crawley on the A23 heading South East towards the M23 and London.

Follow the A23 on to Brighton Road and at the roundabout at the junction to the M23 take the 2nd exit onto Brighton Road (B2114), at the next roundabout take the 3rd exit onto Horsham Rd, the Black Swan will be on your right after 0.2 miles.

Friendly service from server Megan, absolutely delicious beef and ale pie, and thrice fried chips were the best! Lovely interior and 2 cozy wood-burning fires. Perfect spot for a lunch!

We were a party of 8 for lunch, a school girls reunion. The staff could not have been more pleasant and the food was great. And no attempt was made to rush us , which resulted in a lovely afternoon, which after the last year of restrictions, was a joy. Many thanks to the staff.

Pre ordered Xmas meal. Starter was OK,, main was cold and very dry had to order 4 extra garvy boats 😬😳. Dessert was cold. Coffee was lovely and hot. Waitress had too many covers for a single waitress,,her attitude also left a little to be desired.
Have eaten there many times before and it was great,, so am hoping this was just an isolated incident 😔😔

This was a lovely welcoming place with good quality food and in the words of our children, the Food was flavorful, probably one of the best places they've been to. The staff were kind. very good sweet potato fries. And our dogs thought it was exquisite

A larger Hall and Woodhouse pub. The usual Badger beers are available, but only one on cask. Large car park

A very warm welcome, and a lovely looking place. Menu is not extensive, but wide enough for all tastes. And that means attention to each meal is obvious. Will visit again !! Thank you, Maria and the team

Huge pub, well decorated, good food and beer
Had lunch there one Wednesday summer afternoon. Wasn't very busy. Polite, attentive staff. Good selection of food, well-priced.
The place is large and the paved garden quite a good size.
Toilets very clean.
Will go there again.
