Situated close to Gatwick airport and two and a half miles from the M23, the Black Horse is a great example of a friendly, traditional, English country pub. The Black Horse refers to the overnight ride from London to York made by Dick Turpin, on his horse Black Bess in 1737 and the pub is the second 'Black Horse' Inn in Hookwood (the old Black Horse Inn was at the top of Horse Hills).
Renowned locally for its great food and award-winning Badger beers, the pub has plenty of parking, as well as a large garden and children's play area, making it glorious in the summer. And during the darker and colder winter months our roaring log fires, oak beams and traditional interior really do make it a pub for all seasons and occasions.

Services
We've been working hard over the past few months to make sure all of our delicious food dishes are just that little bit better. As well as our usual favourites like Steak & Tangle Foot Pie, Hand-Battered Fish & Chips and our famous H&W Burger, we've also got a range of tasty sandwiches and of course our delicious Sunday Roasts, which we think are the best (apart from Mum's!)
We've scoured the world to find what we think are the best drinks available, so you're guaranteed to find something to quench your thirst. The stars of the show are our Badger beers which have been brewed in the heart of the Dorset countryside since 1777, a great range of lagers and wines from around the world, soft drinks and our range of (despite their name), very delightful Deadly Gins!
One of the delights of the perfect English Country pub is that it is at the heart of its community a place where people can come together. That's why we believe it's so important for us to give something back to our local community. Community is incredibly important to us and as part of this, we help to fundraise for a local charity.
Leaving the airport head West on the A23 (London Road), at the roundabout take the second exit on to the A217. Proceed through the next roundabout and then at the following roundabout take the second exit on to the A217 (Reigate Road). After 0.5 mile take a slight left towards Horse Hill, then turn right onto Horse Hill and then turn right at the 1st cross street onto the A217 (Reigate Road).
