The locals are enjoying their pub again. New landlord, Glen Smith Richards is already delivering on his promises of great things. He previously worked with his father, Tony Richards at the Chapter Arms, in Chartham Hatch, then the Compasses Inn at Crundale, before finally running the kitchen at the White Horse in Boughton.

Glen along with the support of his partner Kelly, a friendly team of staff, and Tony helping out behind the bar, is really putting this Canterbury pub/restaurant back on Kent's map. The restaurant now boasts a fresh and varied, locally sourced menu (changing every few weeks), excellent value for money and impeccable service.

Very unimpressed. Made a food booking through the website for 8:30pm and when we arrived they had decided to stop doing food because it was quiet, leaving us having to find somewhere else at the last minute. No call and no message sent. Customer experience isn't at the centre of this pub's motivation.

I had heard on the grapevine that The Old Coach & Horses Sunday roast was the stuff of legend, so I finally got myself booked in for a lazy Sunday packed with meat, gravy and beer. What more could you possibly want?
Settling in quickly in the quaint upstairs interior, we ordered swiftly, but it wasn’t an easy choice.
Personally, I went for the Chicken, which if I’m being honest was a bit off piste for me as an avid red meat eater. But you know what? I fancied it, and if it was going to be anything like The Old Coach & Horses outrageously tasty food on their menu I knew I was going to be in

Went in for a drink and some small plates for lunch meeting. The food was lovely, especially the peanut satay chicken. Staff were very friendly and welcoming. Definitely will return when in the area.

Loved it! The food was fantastic, service was great and really good value. We didn't know there wasn't a car park so just make sure you can find a space on the road

Really good garden, plenty of space with some covered for bad weather but plenty in the sun. Staff were fantastic, looked after us really well, didn't wait to get food ordered or more rounds, all were in good spirits which added to the great atmosphere. Food was tasty, starters were lovely but if you are ordering the roast you'll need a big stomach the main is massive! Halloumi fries are a must

Great pub with a great Sunday roast. Staff was friendly and professional. The pub is dog friendly and it shows, half of the customers in the garden area had a dog and the staff new how to deal with dogs. Our puppy enjoyed their garden areas as well. Would definitely go again.

Current owner has just taken out a lease on this place 7 weeks so he is still trying out new things. Menu is limited but the quality is very good. Drink selection especially beers is limited but if there is the demand owner will expand. Car parking is limited so you end up parking on road outside. Service is prompt and you won't get clobbered with a service charge aka tax.

The starters here were superb, and incredibly generous - check the baked camembert cheese! The roast was also cooked to perfection, we had lamb and butternut squash. The dishes had a nice level of green leaves in it (something I tend to miss in most pub roasts)
