Cambridge Academy Of Martial Arts
The Academy was established in 1989 by instructors qualified in a variety of martial arts and combat disciplines. We offer high-quality, safe and fun classes in a friendly and appropriately relaxed environment. Integrated fighting arts - our martial arts training sessions include both stand-up and fighting on the ground.

You will learn to strike effectively with your hands, feet, knees, elbows (and more), to apply close-quarter trapping, throws and take-downs, joint locks, submission holds, immobilisation's, chokes and strangulation's, escapes and reversals from holds - either for competition or for effective self-defence.

His knowledge is vast and his ability to communicate and inspire students has helped thousands. I have grown a deep respect for Ollie (and Julie as well) over our years of association. His attention to detail and ability to use new information has kept CAMA on the forefront of this field for many years.
The Academy welcomes new members, whether beginner or experienced. Our instructors are qualifed, friendly, trained in First Aid and have been CRB checked. We run courses for adults throughout the year, usually on weekday evenings. We also run courses specifically for youngsters - some during the evening, others run daytime during school holidays.
You will learn effective hand strikes, kicks and defensive skills. You will train with qualified and experienced instructors, keen to help you learn and improve your fitness and self-confidence. As you progress, you will have the opportunity to test your skills in gradings or competition. Classes run from 7:00 to 8:00pm on Monday, Wednesday and Thursday evenings, throughout the year, including school holidays.
The Academy has a safe and fun kickboxing & martial arts programme for children aged from 7 to 12 years. We offer a four session trial so you can find out more about our classes. You must contact us in advance to register. Classes run from 6.30pm to 7.30pm on Monday and Thursday evenings, throughout the year, including school holidays.
Over the last 25 years (since 1989), Cambridge Academy has put on many Martial Arts seminars, training events, and competitions. As well as those conducted by our own highly-experienced and highly-qualified staff, we have also hosted such events with some of the finest martial arts and combat sports people in their field.

I have had the pleasure of working with Ollie Batts, from Cambridge Academy, since 1995. My first aquaintance with Ollie was at Sawston Village College, where he taught Self Defence as part of a two day, year 10 Health Promotion Event, to boys and girls. He had been recommended to me by a colleague from the field of Judo.
In 1997, as Head of PE at St Mary's School, Cambridge, I asked him to teach Self Defence to the Year 11 girls, as part of their option programme. He very quickly put the girls at their ease and showed a genuine concern for their learning and well being.
I have since sought to
