Avey Lane Boarding Cattery in Essex is located on the edge of Epping Forest. It is close to Waltham Abbey in a brand new premises and is set in 8 acres of fields, where we are able to continue our 12 years of looking after cats for discerning owners. Our 48 newly built double chalets all have individual thermostatically controlled heating which ensure that your cat enjoys their stay with us.
The cattery is located close to Waltham Abbey and is just 2 miles from Junction 26 on the M25, so it is easy to reach us from North London and from all parts of Essex. We will happily collect or deliver your cat for you, if you are not able to get to the cattery. This will help you to make the most of your time away and to enjoy your holiday.

Services
When arriving or collecting your cats please note and respect our opening and closing times. A receipt and written confirmation of your cats' boarding will then be sent out to you. The balance of your cats' boarding is then payable on admission. VERY IMPORTANT:- We are unable to accept your cat unless an UP TO DATE Flu vaccination certificate is shown on arrival/collection.

A good boarding cattery where cats are well cared for. My cats usually go to smaller more cosy, family run catteries but this was perfectly adequate for a short stay. My elderly pedigree cats perhaps need more pampering than most cats so I think this cattery would be more suitable for most cats who are less sensitive if for a longer period.

This cattery offers private cremation services for pets.
Unfortunately we lost our 4 month old kitten Bubba Moo to a feline coronavirus mutation.
It was a heartbreaking time for us, but the people at Avey Lane cattery could not have been more compassionate about our loss. We found them to be very comforting at this time.
When dropping him off, we was able to collect the ashes the very next day. He was placed in a beautiful photo frame box and a flower had been placed in with him.This cattery has a real passion for animals, I would highly recommend them to everyone.

After visiting the cattery I booked a stay for my 19 year old cat. The morning after I booked my cat fell ill and I had to have her put to sleep. I was, and am, devastated. I emailed Avey Lane immediately and was distressed to learn they are going to keep my deposit for 'admin costs'. I had submitted the booking form less than 12 hours previously and they had processed the payment about an hour before I told them. What admin costs could they possibly have accrued in this time? This has added an additional level of upset to what is already a very painful time. It shows a lack of empathy which surprised

We started using Avey Lane Cattery in its previous location over 12 years ago for our two cats and followed them when they moved the cattery to Avey Lane. Both Austin and Dorothy are great with cats. Dorothy is the cat whisperer, and the only person that Alfie ever let pick him up for a cuddle. Sadly Alfie and Cleo are no longer with us but we now have two young cats who have stayed at Avey Lane 3 times to date and they are so happy there. All the staff are lovely with them, taking time to play with them and Dorothy sends photos of them whilst we're away. They make sure they follow your cats standard

We have a very outdoorsy cat and I was concerned a cattery might not be for him and he would hate us. As it turns out he must have had a great time as he was just in the best mood when we collected him. I… would not hesitate to use Avey Lane cattery again. I went to view a few and felt that the pens were a good size and a high level of expertise meant Bret cat would be in safe hands.
