Please note all of the above dates are subject to change- please keep an eye on the weekly newsletter for changes in dates and additional events during the school year. Pupils' attitudes to learning at St John's are exceptional. They are taught to listen carefully to each other, ask detailed questions and respond well.

Discussions with teachers and other pupils helps to improve pupils' vocabulary and understanding of what is being taught very well. Classrooms are places full of lively discussion and where pupils work hard. They say their lessons are interesting. Learning in the forest area is especially popular, for example when pupils build air raid shelters and cook using Second World War recipes on an outside fire.

If you missed the SEN Information Report as it's in the Policies section of the website, I've put it here again for you. This report explains how we identify and provide for SEN in school. I have provided a range of resources which might support you when working with your children at home. Additionally, you will find some links to other agencies who may be able to offer support and advice.
The Government have given Schools additional funding for PE and School Sport to improve the provision and experience of PE and Sport within schools. This funding is ring-fenced and therefore can onlybe spent on provision for PE and sport in schools. We will be held accountable for how we have used the additional funding to support pupils progress and participation in PE and School Sport.
What does it take to develop healthy, happy, confident children who are ready and open to learning? Recent advances in neuroscience, attachment theory and child development have provided some of the answers to this question. The Thrive Approach draws on insights from these fields to provide a powerful way of working with children and young people that supports optimal social and emotional development.
Year 5 had a wonderful morning taking part in archery and climbing activities. Here are some photos of the fun we had and of our achievements during sport enrichment week. We are all very proud of ourselves! Year 5 have been learning about the Romans and what Britain was like before they invaded. Here are some images of the hill forts we made.
Everyone is having a great time regardless of the weather! A few quick pictures after my visit today but lots more will follow early next week. Mrs Bucklee and Mr Weal are doing a super job of drying clothes and all of the children are smiling! We have recently been learning a fun new game in our real PE lessons - Kabaddi.
