Visits must be booked in advance online. Tickets are free for everyone. Book your free tickets! This display focuses on the skull of a Tyrannosaurus rex nicknamed 'Stan'. It also explains why and how replicas or casts are made of fossils and includes a look behind-the-scenes into the curation of collections.
Early in lockdown, the Getty Museum challenged social media users to recreate artworks from its collection using household objects. Here in the Sedgwick Museum we responded by challenging ourselves and our social media followers to recreate a famous painting, Duria Antiquior, which hangs in our Museum.

Services
The Sedgwick has one toilet within the Museum. An accessible toilet is available within the Department of Earth Sciences on the ground floor. Museum staff will provide access to this upon request. An additional lock has been added to the external entrance to the toilet to avoid queuing inside the area to the internal door.
Find out more about what's going on at the Sedgwick Museum. Every year the Museum is involved in big events such as the Big Weekend, Cambridge Festival and Twilight at the Museum. We also have plenty of activities in the Museum for families and individuals to enjoy as well as temporary exhibitions, workshops and other events throughout the year.

Fairly Victorian museum - large collection of rocks, fossils, skeletons, etc. Some efforts are going into educational context and explanation, but it's still a museum that will yield more to domain-specialists than to day-tripping walk-ins. Still definitely worth looking in on. Try not to need toilet facilities here - you may need to queue.

Brilliant museum if you are a keen geologist or interested in dinosaurs and the people who uncovered them. Loved that the facts are displayed for all ages to understand and there are plenty of interactive media or art to do whilst visiting for children. Interesting timeline on Darwin located here as well. Only issue was the lack of disabled or buggy friendly access to enter and throughout there were stairs where there could have been a ramp. Can't really complain though as it is free to enter and you could easily spend hours with the right person absorbing information. I will be going back without

Took a trip upto Cambridge with my five year old. We loved this museum, lots of skeletons and fossils, a little area for kids to read and draw and even a puzzle to complete, I learnt a few things myself.
Luckily I had my mirrored sunglasses on as there were lots of ladies around which I could check out on the sly. Bingo.

Free to enter, this museum provides an interesting collection of rocks, dinosaur bones, fossils and more. There are also activities for children to do.
Toilet facilities are available along with a small shop. When we visited, it was a warm day and the museum was extremely hot with no air conditioning or cooling devices apparent. This made the visit very uncomfortable and we left before we had intended, which was a shame because there were other things we had hoped to take our time to study.

This is a tremendously informative museum. There is a display on Charles Darwin and from there it gives a chronological overview of history from Cambrian time, around 560 million years ago to today. Each section has an overview of climate, types of creatures that appeared and what the continents or continent looked like along with a ton of fossils. There are literally thousands on display. There is also a T-Rex skull and who doesn't love seeing s T-Rex. It's a really good place to spend the afternoon m

It needs a larger working lift, so physically disabled and those with pushchairs can get in. I arrived with a pushchair my walking aid, to find the lift to small and I and my pushchair barely fitted. I also suffer with claustrophobia and there was no way I was getting into it. The museum isn't accommodating for the physically disabled or those with your children or babies. I was and am very disappointed. I can't visit a place I can't get into. How many other people have the same problem. ????

Wonderful museum - small enough that you can walk around but stuffed so full of objects that there is plenty to see. Like the Petrie Museum of Egyptian Archaeology in London it's a museum of a museum with even… the cases dating from the 18th century. Beautiful collection of fossils, geology, crystals & plenty of dinosaurs & related objects for kids & adults alike. Good value & reasonable shops - and all free! Highly highly recommended. We had a Hungarian friend visiting & he loved it - many thanks
