We are a small rural primary school situated in a lovely location just outside the historic city of Wells. Our core values of independence, engagement, respect and activity can be seen in everything we do and they complement our ethos that children should be taught in the way that they like to learn and the way that they learn best.
We call this 'the Wookey Way'. We are very proud of our popular wraparound care provision, which runs daily from 7:45am to 6pm, as well as the number of after school clubs which add to the curriculum that we offer. We are also very lucky to have our own pre-school on site, our 'Little Acorns', which has been fully integrated with the school for over 2 years.

When planning our curriculum we consider ways in which we can explicitly promote our core values of independence, engagement, respect and active learning. As well as teacher led input, careful thought is given to the planning of our 'enhanced provision' where children are empowered to lead their own learning and follow their own interests in class.
Our vision statement is 'Together we learn and grow', which encapsulates our view that success as a school is achieved only through engagement of all stakeholders; children, staff, parents and governors.
This vision statement was reviewed in 2016 and after full consultation our four core values of 'engagement', 'independence', 'respect' and 'active learning' were agreed and it is these four values which guide us on our continuing journey at Wookey.

Once a year we provide the department for education with information that we hold about our pupils in a census return. Allocations are made based on the school which the eligible pupil attends at the time of the January school census. This information is used to determine the amount of additional funding we receive for specific pupils, and we then ensure that those same pupils benefit from the funding over the course of the school year.
Somerset County Council is our Admissions Authority. We can process admissions to year groups that are under our Planned Admission Number (PAN) of 12 but if a year group is at or above PAN applications have to be agreed by SCC. If you are applying for a place for your child to start school, this is done through Somerset County Council.
Every school is required by law to publish the results of National examinations undertaken by its pupils. At Wookey our core values can be seen in every classroom through an approach to teaching and learning that is focused on fully developing the individual child.
We are driven by the needs and learning styles of our children, focusing on building them up from the time that they start with us into confident, independent people ready to face the challenges of the next stage of their education.
