Dr Maria Montessori (1870-1952) was an Italian physician, educator, philosopher and humanitarian. She is best known for her philosophy and method of education of children from birth to adolescence. She was the first female doctor of medicine in Italy, and through her interest in paediatrics, psychiatry and educational theory, she proposed her own philosophy of child development.
Our Forest School in Cookham stems from the desire to provide learning and personal development opportunities for our children within the naturally stunning woodland surrounding our nursery.
Through Forest School and other environmentally-based initiatives, we hope to enable your child to develop a life long love and understanding of the natural environment, whilst developing the core purposes of the Forest School ethos, namely, development of self esteem, confidence and social skills.

I couldn’t recommend Cookham Montessori more highly. Both my daughter and son went there between 2016-2020 and loved it! They miss the teachers so much and are always keen to visit after school.
The teachers and staff are so welcoming and you know they care about each and every child. The Forest School was such a valuable learning experience for… the children. They had great fun building dens and learning about nature and being resourceful.
Thank you so much for giving my children a fantastic start and helping to prepare them for school life in such a nurturing and fun environment

Our DS went to Cookham Montessori and loved it from Day 1. I particularly liked being able to volunteer at Forest School which was off site and great fun for all. I feel the teachers genuinely cared for our son, and I never once questioned his safety. I know of parents that have traveled some distance to get to Cookham Montessori and I can… absolutely see why. There was always an effort to look for extra things to do, often above and beyond normal hours and expectations. There was lantern building at Chinese New Year, a walk in Burnham Beeches in springtime, visits to the theatre, a buddy

Cookham Montessori School is an outstanding preschool. My daughter Eliza went there after going to another local preschool that did not really suit her personality. As soon as Eliza arrived at the preschool she was greeted with the warm friendly staff, who got to know Eliza and her personality very well. All the staff always encouraged her and saw… attributes in her that others may not off and supported her to be the best person she could be. This allowed Eliza to flourish and enjoy every moment.

I cannot even find the words to describe how wonderful this nursery is. Both of my children have had the most incredible introduction to education here. They still reminisce about their time there with the fondest of memories. Without a doubt the strengths lie in the wonderful team who are highly professional, nurturing and dedicated to the children and their families. I cannot recommend this outstanding nursery highly enough.

My son moved here from a nursery he had attended since he was a baby. As soon as he walked through the door his face lightened up. All staff go over and beyond, their care for the children is wonderful. He was individually encouraged and challenged to achieve more which suits his personality. Thank you Montessori what a great environment you provide.
