Services
Our emphasis is on serving up local, freshly prepared food and drink. Bread and pastries are baked in Dartmouth, orange juice is freshly squeezed at the cafe and we serve our own home blend coffee, roasted locally. We are open 7 days a week from 7am till 2pm all year. We're sorry, but we don't take bookings.
We provide year-round accommodation above the cafj, with access either through the cafj on Lower Street or via 47 Newcomen Road, where there is on-street parking just outside. Look for the Dartmouth Fitness clinic. We are open 7 days a week from 7am till 2pm all year. As well as the popular Alf's full breakfast, which includes our special-recipe sausages, we serve filled baguettes, pastries, toasties and seasonal lunchtime specials.

I was very excited to visit dartmouth, was here for
a working holiday. I’m a nurse and work nights, it was a tueaday morning (had the previous night off)
So I was up early, wanted a full english breakfast. Walked up to cafe resco and sat down outside as it was a nice day (bit cold) but sunny day. I waited 20 minutes for a member of staff to approach me to be told I need to order at the bar!!! It busy with a few groups of people and so I went to order at the bar but after already waiting 20 mins to even gety food ordered, I was then told that there is another 10-16 minutes wait (just to get

Since when have the staff at Cafe Alf Resco let customers find their own table . Today along with my wife we attended this cafe . I spoke to a member of staff as I entered . I asked if there room inside as it was a bit chilly . His attitude was if I wanted to seat inside I was to find table myself and might be able to find a table seating on the end . The member of staff just walked off . What has happened to customer care . We just left and went else where . Cafe Alf Resco can stick with holiday makers and local second home owners , I will not be back. Don’t worry I will pass the word , if I

We stopped for a late lunch and can say the food was excellent. Cheese and ham toasties were decadent and the Alf's New Yorker was also very tasty. The coffees were also good. The place also had a good atmosphere and had lots of interesting things to look at and enjoy. Staff were friendly and good service. Would definitely recommend and re-visit when back in Dartmouth 🙂

Had a steak and mushroom baguette today followed by the flapjack.
Both totally amazing but the best thing about this place is the customer service. Nothing was too much trouble for any of the staff. They were all friendly, attentive and welcoming, even though they were extremely busy.
Will definitely return whenever I visit Dartmouth.

As always the brunch at Alf's was amazing. Really good quality food served with a smile. I highly recommend the avocado with eggs and bacon on toast. The hash browns are also excellent. Fresh water melon was served to those of us waiting in the queue. I will always make sure I pay Alf's a visit whenever I am in Dartmouth.

We came here for lunch on spec and were a party of 9 adults, 2 kids, a baby and a dog. Despite arriving shortly before closing, and it being busy they found space for us and made us feel welcome. Ordering food and drinks and getting what you order is often a challenge for so many, but not here. Staff were friendly and service fast and efficient. They went out of their way, were smiley and it is a mark of a great place -that with awesome food and a terrific menu. Thank you Alf Resco -you rock!

It's the day after the Royal Wedding and some people (myself included) are going to be in need of a big, juicy fry-up. If you are lucky enough to be waving your flag over the long weekend in Devon, you need to make a detour to the beautiful Dartmouth and the fun and via Cafe Alf Resco. Dartmouth is a stunning, eccentric town in South Devon located on the River Dart. It boasts narrow cobbled streets, a fabulous colourful market bursting with local produce, some fine eateries, and even a castle ruin! Brightly coloured boats are moored and people relax on the river front, fishing for crab and

This is the best breakfast in Devon. What the place lacks in comfort it makes up for in experience. We turned up at 11am and the place was packed with standing room only. This puts many off who wander off to return later or settle for lesser venues, but we found that waiting just few minutes meant a table came up as diners squeezed up to let us in.
The food is ordered and paid for at the counter and then brought out to you. The cinnamon toast is a speciality that you should have anyway and a great apitiser for the full English breakfast. All the ingredients are top quality; the sausage is a really

This is an unusual and often very busy café situated on the left bank of the estuary. It is open 7 days a week between 7am and 2pm and is renowned for its breakfasts. The food has to be ordered at the counter but is very good indeed, and the relaxed atmosphere is further demonstrated by the fact that friendly and efficient staff will bring your order to your table not using table numbers but by shouting your name across the café. Although I have never used the available accommodation, the rooms look very interesting indeed, especially the self-contained flat. Great little café.
