This charming restaurant is food guide acclaimed, the emphasis is on fresh food cooked to order, using mainly local produce on its monthly changing menus, accompanied by a comprehensive wine list and friendly service. Blagraves House is the oldest house in Barnard Castle. It is situated at the centre of this historic market town's other main attractions, namely Bowes Museum, Egglestone Abbey and the Castle itself.
With its heavily beamed ceilings and large open fireplaces it has been playing host to weary traveller and businessman alike for some 500 years. So why not dine where Cromwell once dined and experience the atmosphere of this unique 15th Century building whether it be an important business meeting or a relaxing dinner with family or friends.

Been here a few times and as always very good. Very relaxed especially before and after the meal. You can have a very relaxed drink next to the open fire downstairs before being taken upstairs for your meal. Food is top class and staff are super friendly. After the meal enjoy some drinks downstairs next to the open fire before venturing out into the cold. I would highly recommend but book well in advance. This is a very popular place with a regular client base.

One of the best dining experiences I have ever had. Excellent décor and ambience. We were absolutely stunned by the quality of the food. It was faultless. The staff were friendly and the service excellent. The homemade Eton Mess ice-cream was without a doubt the best I've ever tasted. I can't wait to go again. An absolute gem.
