The staff, governors, children and I would like to warmly welcome you to the community of Priors Field Primary School. We are a school where children and adults work and flourish together in a warm and stimulating atmosphere underpinned by enthusiasm, encouragement and high expectations. We make sure your children's happiness and safety is at the heart of all we do.
For the children to reach their full potential we value working in partnership with you as parents, carers and colleagues and try to involve you in your child's learning and the life of the school as much as possible and in a variety of ways. We are a school that loves the outdoors, and we are especially proud of our wonderful Environmental Area and Forest School teaching which we use in our learning as much as possible.

Services
All children and adults at Priors Field are responsible for working together to make sure that everyone feels safe and happy. We have respect for ourselves and others, always strive to be polite and well-mannered, and if we make a mistake with our behaviour we remember that we are team players and always try our best to put it right with the people involved.
This year we have been updating our PSHE curriculum in line with new guidance. As part of this update, this term we will be planning and delivering lessons based on the Drug and Alcohol scheme produced by the Christopher Winter project. The scheme runs from Year 1 to Year 6 and is a gradual teaching programme that covers risk, how to make healthy choices, taking prescription medications safely and awareness of issues such as smoking.
What a wonderful start for the new Reception class! Everyone has come into school so positively, with big smiles, ready to learn. We are so impressed with how well they are doing with learning about where to put their coats, wellies, water bottles and book bags.
We have been making dens, visiting the environmental area, chatting with Oakey (the class rabbit puppet), cutting, sticking, playing deftly on the adventure playground and listening to stories.Next week will be the first time everyone will be together and on Thursday we will try lunch! Very exciting.

Year 1 have really impressed us with their enthusiasm and confidence and are settling into a new classroom, new routines and different adults brilliantly! We are proud of each and every one of them - thank you for your support. This week the children shared with us what they did over the summer holidays and 'wow'ed us with their confidence to stand in front of their classmates and speak confidently and clearly.
We have made a fantastic start to the new academic year in Holly Class, getting to know the new classroom and new routines. It is a big step up from Year 1 but we have all maintained a growth mindset all week. In Geography we have used atlases to label the continents and oceans of the world. In Science, we have researched the different names given to animals and their offspring.
