Services
Thanks to a substantial investment by the Royal Borough of Greenwich, Royal Greenwich's collections and archive are housed together, for the first time in their 100-year history, at a facility and store fitted to the highest standards of collection and archive care and management.

During the pandemic, our collections manager and archivist have dedicated themselves to a digital catologuing project, ensuring that the Royal Borough of Greenwich's collections and archives are accessible to residents and researchers for years to come. This work will continue for the next several months, and will occupy the majority of their time and resources.
There is plenty to see and do at Charlton House & Gardens, whether you are coming as an individual, with friends, or as a family. With free entry, you can explore and learn all about the long and eventful history of the beautiful jacobean rooms, corridors and staircases you will discover, as well as the stunning walled gardens and grounds.
The Royal Arsenal and Woolwich is imbued with history, much of which is linked with the British military. The former was responsible for the vast majority of developing, testing and processing weapons of war for the British Army and Navy for over 300 years, employing over 80,000 in its peak and making it one of the most significant manufacturing sites in the UK.
We care for important historic buildings such as Charlton House & Gardens, Charlton Assembly Room, Tudor Barn, the Museum Collections & Archive of the Royal Greenwich, as well as memorials across the borough. Our aim is to ensure the future of the Royal Borough's rich heritage whilst bringing that heritage to life for everyone, through exhibitions, tours, walks and activities.
The Royal Borough of Greenwich are the core funder of Royal Greenwich Heritage Trust and continue to work closely with the charity to help them deliver on their three principles of learning, access and conservation. Visit Greenwich is a public/private partnership, led by a board of tourism professionals, representing different sectors of the industry, with an independent chair.

Only visited for my Covid Jab, but was well impressed with Charlton House. Lovely wood panelling, very bright and airy. Had to wait 15 minutes before driving so had a cheeky drink at the bar. Well worth a visit if you're local.

It's a remarkable manor house residence one of the rare witnesses of the architecture in the Jacobean era built in the xix century. The multiple smaller gardens have a special taste with their different garden architectural features. Worth to ment that there is a special place, which is the home of the Amnesty International memorial statue.
The building embrace a café & a public library and some unique hall and room. Exclusive venue for wedding or concerts...

A laidback place where I can just relax and enjoy.. There's plenty of things to do here.. The tea house and library where you can chill. In addition, the Charlton skate park is nearby if you want to get active, you can play basketball, football and table tennis. Furthermore, there is a playground for the kids where they can have fun.. You don't have to worry about getting hungry because restaurants are within the area.

Magnificent example of Jacobian architecture, completed 1712....ish. Beautiful internal architectural features in first floor rooms. Many cultural events held there. Somewhere to keep a regular eye on. Cafe is a useful respite after strolling the grounds and adjacent Maryon Park.

Very nice interior, small museum and historical library. Entrance was free when we visited walking up from Maryon Park. Café: nice staff, sandwiches and hot meal options, good coffee and cakes; ladies with small dogs enjoying cup of tea - beautiful English style. Peace garden just few steps outside and 3 almost connected parks make Charlton House a nice place for a a day out.
