Le Gothique on Wandsworth Common was London's first genuine gastropub when it opened in 1987. The restaurant, bar and gardens are located within the glorious Royal Victoria Patriotic Building. The turrets, spires and towers of this spectacular landmark building is South London's most historic building.
Whether you are looking for a romantic table for two, planning a birthday celebration, a memorable and affordable location for your wedding or just fancy a pint. The much over used term "Hidden Gem" really is appropriate. The "secret garden" situated internally within the building is most certainly London's best al freco dining experience.

This was a nice surprise but a bit off the beaten track. The meal was a celebration for my wife and sons birthdays. The food didn’t disappoint however I thought the atmosphere was a bit lacking which was the only negative. The staff were really attentive which made us feel comfortable and not rushed.

Booked a table for 4 people for our annual Girls Christmas Dinner. Although I did mention we wanted the Christmas Menu when booking & also when I phoned to enquire about something we were disappointed to find they were not doing the Christmas Menu. Had we known before we wouldn't have booked there. Anyway we all had different starters & main courses which we all thoroughly enjoyed. Great food & great service. Rose the waitress was brilliant.

I've been here before and felt a little underwhelmed by the pub/restaurant, but decided to give it a 2nd go, but not sure I've changed my opinion. However, I was attending the beer festival in the grounds outside which was excellent, the bar staff were lightning quick, the beer in excellent condition, and generally was well managed. So a bit "curates egg" really.

My husband booked us a table here for my birthday and I'll definitely be going back. The food was amazing i had the best scallops I've ever tasted for my starter they were cooked to perfection and the steak I had for main was melt in the mouth tender. My chocolate fondant and ice cream dessert finished the meal off perfectly. The staff are so friendly and make the experience more special

We had an enjoyable dinner at Le Gothique. We were sat outdoors but the courtyard was well heated. For starters we had the kings prawns and goats cheese salad. We definitely preferred the goats cheese salad of the two items. For mains, we had the burger and sea bass which were both very enjoyable. The dessert was a bit of a let down with the lady fingers in the tiramisu not being soaked at all (so they were hard). The lava cake tasted supermarket bought and microwaved. Service was quick and polite.
If it wasn’t for the dessert this would have definitely deserved a 5 star rating.

Used to attend beer festivals at this location back in the day and always had a great time. Recently attended a wedding get together as this lockdown is easing. Had a tremendous time also. The staff at Le Gothique really went out of their way to provide us with an excellent experience whilst taking every precaution dictated by law.

Small bar which does beer festivals twice a year, had two ales from Redemption Brewery which I hadn't encountered before. You sit outside in the courtyard which is one of several in this converted Victorian orphanage (the word 'asylum' is slightly tasteless in this context as it gives the wrong impression - at the time, 'asylum' meant what it does in the context of political asylum: "refuge"). The building is of a Gothic excess almost without parallel (I'm sure fans of the Chåteau Frontenac will insist on the 'almost') and to be honest I found

Le Gothique is situated in the beautiful Royal Victoria Patriotic Building, a stunning grade two listed building that houses many unique businesses, an exceptional drama school and many expensive private properties. It is a relaxed but classy French restaurant which can cater for huge parties including weddings. It's main bar has a good mix of diners, locals and the occasional drama student catching an above student price drink before moving on. i used to spend a great many hours with my best friend discussing everything and nothing and putting the world to rights in here. A truly charming setting for an interesting pub and court yard in the middle of a young energetic surround. Food fare is of the French variety with a good selection of wines as company. Prices for main courses are in the region of £15 per head.
All in all a worthy destination for something different and full of character.

Situated in the beautiful Royal Patriotic Building, in Wandsworth, is this very special little French Restaurant.
With a bar area which is often as full of those in the know as it is with the energetic drama students from next-door and an upstairs eating area offering some recommended food, this venue is worth going a little out of your way to find, especially in the Summer, when you can dine in the enclosed courtyard.
Also recommended for functions as a friends wedding reception went very well with excellent service, attentive staff and reasonable prices.
