One of Wales' oldest pubs, The Fforest Inn was originally built in the 16th century as a Drovers inn. Steeped in history and recently renovated, it still retains many of its original features but now compliments them with a comfortable, welcoming environment. Food is served from Wednesday through to Sunday and while it changes regularly recent menus can be seen here.
Do call if you have any questions or specific requirements. DOG FRIENDLY: please note that well behaved dogs are welcome in the bar area. Tables are limited, so please let us know if you intend to bring a dog. We are proud of our traditional pub food menus, all made in-house using locally sourced ingredients wherever possible.

Services
Earliest written record we have found shows the pub in existence as early as 1548. Built as a Drovers inn, The Fforest is one of Wales' oldest pubs. From the front the building can be seen to be made up of three distinctive sections. The left part of the building has always been the "pub" with roaring fires and a well stocked bar.
Please note that our postcode covers a large area. If you are using your sat nav to find us, it may well send you down a farm track off of the A44. We are some distance up the road and can be clearly seen on the A481 junction to Builth Wells. Sadly under the current circumstances we cannot offer our usual carvery.
We are fortunate to be able to offer four B&B rooms (two twin and two double). All have recently been fully renovated to provide comfortable country-cottage style rooms all with en-suite showers. Typical of a Drovers Inn, the rooms are compact and as such do not have TVs. We do however benefit from high-speed fibre optic broadband which is available without charge.
If you have any allergies or specific dietary requirements, do please let us know and we will do our best to accommodate. Note however, that our gravy and white sauces are gluten free. During Sunday lunch service our normal menu is not available, but will resume from 18.00 to 20.00 on a Sunday evening.

We arrived later than expected from a long day horse riding and could not have received a better welcome. We were quickly sorted out with our room and a drink the meal was great and probably enough food for 2 meals. Breakfast was arranged early so we could get a early start and was perfect. The hosts were great.

What an absolute joy to stop for a drink here today! Some pubs have got it very wrong during this very difficult period - Nicki and Colin who we met for the 1st time today have got their hospitality very… right! Great pub! Great hosts and very relaxed and comfortable few hours there - A story or two told to us and a smile and fuss for the dogs! We will be back so much more and customers for life!
