On a very hot evening in June, our party of four were lucky to find a table which had just been vacated outside the restaurant. Staff were very friendly and helpful despite being incredibly busy both inside and with the outside tables. The owner/head chef is Sardianian and imports much of the authentic ingredients from his homeland.

Exquisite, sublime. I was astonished at the subtle and inventive takes on classics! Good sized portions and affordable but not cheap. Service was attentive but not intrusive, and staff knew a great deal about the food. I had dietary requirements that were well accommodated. The space was full of character; a converted house or shop from 1880s? But really the food was the star, and I’ve had few dining experiences so purely wondrous as this. 6/5

An Italian jewel in Richmond.
We were watching Ted Lasso when in one scene Ted was passing in a nice and cute alley. Checking in Google Maps we spotted a nice restaurant, L’Assaggino.
We booked straight away and the day after we had had one of the best italian lunch since we were in Italy.
Highly recommended.

I was walking in Richmond with my wife and we stopped to L’Assaggino. Best change of plans ever. I am sardinian, so my expectations for a sardinian restaurant were very high. Basically I never get fully… satisfied. This place I have to admit they went above and beyond. The staff is friendly, professional, attentive to details, treat you as an individual . You feel home after a minute. They serve you with happiness, descrive the food and they perfectly know timing to interact with you. Food is pure POETRY. We had bruschetta and fregola sarda, simply delicious. Fregola os my favorite

Life is Not Fair
Richmond...well, it has it all. I guess it is only fitting that is has one of the best Italian restaurants too. To be able to enjoy a day in Richmond Park, and then a world-class meal here...that is a tough day to top!
Atmosphere:
The restaurant is located on a charming back street in the historic area of Richmond. It’s actually a bit hard to notice. The interior has a “historic” charm to it, but is a bit dated. The staircase is pretty narrow too, so might be an issue for some people getting up and down.
Service:
Outstanding service. Owner comes around to talk with everyone

We had an amazing meal here, all the food was excellent and the staff all very friendly, especially the manager who went above and beyond what is expected in a restaurant. I had the stuffed calamari starter which was delicious, followed by the pesto seafood pasta which was again, amazing. I cannot recommend this restaurant enough, especially as the bill was very reasonable given all the food (and wine!) we had!

This was our last night of a two week trip staying in Richmond. Tired of pub doos and ambiance, I suggested that we look beyond the usual suspects and dig deeper into the seemingly vast #'s of restaurants available In Richmond. The outcome of that quest was l'Assagino's. What a great find! Homemade pasta, grilled veggies like I have never tasted before...and mine are really good. The food was only topped
