Story Report

Giovanni's is a family run business with a history stretching back 45 years. It produces what many people say are the best-tasting, highest quality fish and chips in Edinburgh. It all began in 1969, when Giovanni Pacitti and his wife Maria took ownership. Then called The Northfield Fish Restaurant, newly-weds Giovanni and Maria bought the shop from her father and renamed it Giovanni's.

I've used this place a lot b4 but not for a while. I had the fish and scampi recently and wasn't impressed. Fish was bland ( although a good size portion ) and scampi didn't taste like scampi. I would recommend smaller portions but better quality.

Fantastic food with an amazing range of freshly prepared take away. Gluten free pasta and pizza. The app can be a bit glitchy but personal service is great.

I do not recommend this take away for pasta. Fish and chip, very good, pizza good, pasta terrible. We order from long time from Giovanni’s, usually fish and chips with salad, which is good. We wanted to try pasta so we ordered once carbonara…horrible…second time we thought let,s see, maybe maybe…chicken/spinach pasta…horrible again, third time jut my partner ordered pasta, I had a bite from him, again, horrible. We ordered at 6pm at 6,20 the order was received, which tells me that the food was just microwave heated. Again past was very bad. Never order again.

Food not very good waited over 2hours, told i hour phoned twice to ask when delivery due , told twice on it's way .then the manager starts shouting and balling on the phone. Totally out of order.

I use this chippy quite a bit but sorry after tonight never again my fiance has just found 2 hairs in his chicken wrap and none of them are his or mine he is bald i am a sad as this was always a favourite well used to be

Listen to what’s being ordered to many people getting involved.terrible food calzone raw in-the middle pizza crust wet and slimy inside raw mushrooms.onions overload not much ham or peppers. The Doner kebab turned out to be a Doner calazone

Never once have I ever had a 'carry-out' delivered Except tonight. The chicken was FABULOUS (as ever), chips were okay, but generally: Chips from a chippie are 'designed' to be eaten out of the paper!
The people that work in here are a team - and back 'in the old days', it was good that they remembered who I was, or what I am: A Photographer!

Ordered via website at 6pm food arrived at 7.50pm Kids chicken nugget meal was fine but Macaroni was warm not hot and garlic bread over cooked and the 2 Chicken Kebabs were very average how they can charge £18 for 2 pittas,Chicken and abit Salad is beyond me 🤷‍♂️

Fantastic customer service from Giovanni's every time. No longer live in the area now and no other chip shop compares. Always make a visit when I'm back in the area and still as good as ever. Nothing is ever too much trouble, the food always tastes good and delivery is always bang on time.

Excellent as always. Ordered online, ready for collection at the time given (to the minute!) and fresh and tasty food.
I always enjoy watching the staff here working while I'm waiting - they're good at their jobs and it shows.
