Services
Jackie joined Wait & Haxby (later to become Minster Veterinary Centre) in 1989 as a receptionist and nursing assistant, and she is still here all these years later as Practice Manager. Her main focus is client care and ensuring the practice gives the best possible service to its clients and their pets.
At Minster Veterinary Centre, we have 6 practices in Nottinghamshire, ensuring we're easily reachable for all pet owners. Our longest-standing vet clinic in Southwell was purpose built in 1998 but the practice dates back to the First World War, making us one of the most experienced practices in the area.
We love our pets just like we do our family members, which is why we don't want to see them suffer with an injury or illness. If you want to make sure help is always at hand for your pet, you need a highly dependable vet for pets in Calverton. At Minster Veterinary Centre we provide a broad range of treatments for all animals from dogs, cats and rabbits through to horses and farm animals.
The Newark surgery is a purpose built small animal practice with a large car park and an easy to access location just on the edge of town. We have 3 consulting rooms, 2 surgical theatres, imaging facilities, in-house lab facilities and dental equipment. Collection of large animal medications can be organised via our Southwell-based large animal department.
Our Burton Joyce practice opened in 2018 as an additional surgical practice in the Minster Veterinary Centre family. We cater for household pets of all shapes and sizes and can be a collection point for farm animal and equine medications dispensed via our Southwell surgery. We provide preventative healthcare treatments, wellness clinics, appointments for animals that are under the weather and a range of free nurse clinics.

Yesterday was a very sad day for our family we had to have our much loved 8 year old labrador put to sleep very suddenly and unexpected, just wanted to say that James the vet and nicola who answered our call were amazing they dealt with us in such a kind and caring manner in spite of this funny old world we are living in at the minute and I can't thank them enough for their compassion at such a sad time for us, would highly recommend to anyone who is looking for a wonderful veterinary service

I have nothing but praise and… gratitude to you both, even though I had to make one of the hardest decisions of my life, your support and compassion gave me the strength to do what was right. The service provided is exceptional and the prices are very reasonable. I've used them for cats, chicken, rabbits and hamsters, and they've always treated my animals (and me) with care and compassion.
The team are all brilliant and I have to say the reception team are the loveliest vets reception team I've dealt with in my many years of animal care.

Minster vets are a fantastic veterinary practice, professional, friendly, keep you informed of your pets progress.
Always there for advice and reassurance.
Highly recommend if your looking for a vets.
They where also very compassionate and caring when saphie passed away , for that I am truly grateful.
If I decide to get another pet I will have no hesitation or worry about chosing Minster vets again.
Thankyou to all the staff.

Positive: Professionalism
Have been with this surgery for a while, professional care and service, no problems. Sadly had my dog put to sleep last week, although the procedure wasn't straight forward, the vet dealt with the problem quickly and efficiently. The care and compassion received made the process a lot easier.

Our new rescue dog had a serious eye issue. James first saw him and was concerned. He sent photos to get more advice. It was clear the eye needed to be removed. Everything was explained to us. Everyone at Fernwood and Newark treated our dog as though he was theirs. We needed some viewing by vets post op. No extra costs and lots of advice. We can't thank everyone enough. Four weeks on and our new family member is doing great and is a gem.

Sadly had to have our 18 year old jack Russell put to sleep this morning (15/11) he was everything to us. The decision difficult because he was eating well, coming out other end well and mornings still up for a run. But these past couple of weeks.........
Negative comments about Newark I find strange, perhaps treat those as you wish to be treated comes to mind.
All staff have always been kind, helpful and professional.
Today’s decision was without doubt hard but helped by, in particular Tracy and Rachel (reception) who went out of their way to explain every single detail.
We were early but

Best Vets in Newark by a mile!
My animals have been moved 3 times to a decent vets.
One was useless with my cat.
The other resulted in a loss due to poor aftercare.
My Cocker Spaniel came in today for a dental.
Usually just nip into Fernwood for jabs and check ups but I had to go to Newark for the dental.
Was greeted by two polite receptionists which is always a good sign!
The Nurse who dealt with me was absolutely fantastic!!
Greeted Barney and gave him loads of fuss on arrival and went through what was happening with Barney.
Picked him up and she’s Knelt on the floor with me fussing

One of my chickens was poorly, and as it was a Sunday, I left a message for the emergency vet on call. I was called back within 5 minutes. The very helpful vet listened to my description of symptoms, gave a summary of what might be the cause, and explained what could be done to make my hen more comfortable, besides explaining treatment options. I'm not yet registered with Minster Veterinary Centre in Newark, and the advice offered to me was entirely free of charge; so there was no financial benefit to the practice in returning my call. I'm grateful and impressed, and will make a point of registering
