There has been a veterinary practice at the site of Castle Veterinary Centre for well over 60 years. Mr Smythe who established it, and Miss Townley who succeeded him, specialised in treating companion animals at a time when most veterinary surgeons treated pets very much as a sideline to their farm work.
In the 1960's Miss Townley took over the practice and continued to develop and improve the standard of companion animal care in the city. Current owners, Veterinary Surgeons (and husband and wife) Ewan & Brin McNeill, bought the practice outright in 1990 and started on a refurbishment and development programme.

Services
The practice has achieved both BSAVA Standards and RCVS Practice Standard Scheme Accreditation; this means that we have equalled or surpassed the conditions set out by the British Small Animal Veterinary Association and the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons, which covers aspects such as facilities, staff training and health and safety regulations.
Our clinic is fully equipped to handle all issues when it comes to your pets health, helping you give your pet the attention and care it needs - when it needs it. Unfortunately, emergencies can and do arise without warning. These cases are best seen at the surgery where we have the staff and equipment available to deal with them.
When you get a pet for the first time, we're here to provide the latest addition to your family with the appropriate treatments and services that is vital to their overall health and happiness. We can provide Veterinary Diagnostic lab tests for all of our patients across the Nottingham area in order to make sure your pet gets to live the happy and painless life they deserve.

This is the first vet practice I have visited since I moved here from the US. The staff is super friendly and helpful. My cat is my only family in England and the vet made me feel like she was really taken care of and loved. Tomorrow she is going for her booster and while I feel badly about how much she hates being in the cat carrier I am not worried about how she will be treated.

This practice is not a good choice they are abrupt and do not give invoices and not good diagnosis of well know n problems affecting small dog breeds. After 24 hours of having my pet the best advice they could give was dont buy the runt of a litter .took my pet for second opinion and in 10 seconds the vet knew what was happening with my dog for a fraction of what this vet charged and I picked up my pet 2 hours later with medication that cost a few pounds

This is the most lovely practice! Both vets and staffs are the kindest and most professional people you will find. Even during covid time they are always trying to accommodate to make the experience the best possible. Really understanding and patient I cannot recommend them highly enough. Expert in exotic animals like rats! Best vet you can ask for.
