Therefore, we do carry out routine check on most people over 40 and others who are potentially at risk of loss of side vision.

If you're an existing patient, don't worry as all prescription records are kept on file so there is no need for you to be sure of your prescription. If you're a new patient however, we will have to undergo an eye exam to determine your prescription, unless you have an in-date, valid prescription from a qualified practitioner.

When we are young, the lens in the eye can change its shape allowing us to focus on near objects. This condition is defined as presbyopia and is a normal part of ageing. Presbyopia is usually first noticed by difficulties reading in low light. Often, you may find it will take longer for eyes to refocus from reading to distance and from distance to reading.

I use Stoker Opticians regularly and have always received first class service from caring and competent staff. Recently, I had a worrying episode with my eyesight, and managed to get an urgent appointment with Abigail. Following a thorough and professional examination, Abi was able to reassure me that there was nothing seriously wrong, much to my relief. She contacted me a few days later to make sure everything was still OK. Having experienced this level of care, I can highly recommend Stoker Opticians.

First time using Stoker Opticians, as I was fed up with the lack of service and over priced specs from the bigger chain opticians. I had a great eye test from Abigail the optician, who was thorough, patient and lovely to deal with. Hilary then helped me choose a fantastic pair of Prodesign glasses. They are the comfiest glasses I’ve ever had, and still better value than what I’ve had from the bigger chains in the past. Five Stars all round, thoroughly recommend them, and I wont be going anywhere else from now on!

Following an emergency eye problem, Abbey at Stockers fitted me in very quickly to examine my eye. Abby discovered a cut on my cornea caused by a foreign body. I received excellent care by this skilful young lady. I would highly recommend Stocker's Opticians to family and friends.
