At Ridings Opticians, we are dedicated to offering you the best possible service when it comes to caring for your eyes. From advice about keeping your eyes healthy to helping you choose the right glasses or contacts, our fully qualified opticians are here for you every step of the way. To find out more information, you can request a lens fitting or sight test online.
Your optometrist will not only test your vision and, if necessary, prescribe glasses or contact lenses, but will also check closely for any early signs of eye disease or other medical condition. Short sightedness (myopia), also known as near-sightedness, occurs when light is focused in front of the retina causing distance vision to become blurred.
Floaters, spots, flashes or 'cobwebs' are small specks or strands that move through your field of vision. They are often most visible when looking at a lighter background such as a lightly coloured wall, piece of white paper, a bright sky or a white computer/tablet screen. Floaters are small clumps of gel or cells that move around in the vitreous, the gel that fills the middle of the eye.
If you're named on an NHS certificate for partial help with health costs (HC3), you may get some help towards the cost of your sight test. You're eligible for an NHS complex lens voucher (your optician will advise on your entitlement). You receive Income Support or Income-based Jobseeker's Allowance (not contribution-based).

Received fantastic service at Ridings and couldn't recommend them highly enough. As someone who wears glasses all the time it is such a personal decision and in other stores I have always had problems with limited run of the mill ranges and limited help. The staff at Ridings have been fantastic and give genuine advice, and the range is the much better and broader than any other opticians I have been to in Manchester. Wouldn't hesitate to use again and have recommended them to friends and work colleagues who have commented on my glasses
