I qualified as an Optometrist when I was 40yrs old, having previously worked in optics firstly as a Saturday girl when I was 16yrs old, then receptionist, then dispensing before having my 2 daughters. I went to university when I was 36yrs old. I was joined by my husband, Andy, (an Electrical Engineer) when he sold his business in 2006.

I was advised my my GP practice to contact Harries as I had an inflamed eyelid. I cannot praise the level of customer service received highly enough. The first gentleman I spoke to asked me to send a photo over and someone would get back to me. I did this and got another call about 15 minutes later from a lady who confirmed that I had done the right thing and that the optician would call me as close to 2:30pm as possible! The optician called me at 2:35pm and gave me treatment advice! I am a glasses wearer and usually go to a big chain of opticians but after the service received today I am going

I suffered a very painful eye injury and randomly phoned Harries Opticians after previously spending 7 hours in A&E and going home after seeing no one on a previous occasion. They said they had no appointments that day but would phone around other opticians for me to get me checked over, unfortunately no one could see me but they told me to come down in 2 hours and they would squeeze me in. They carried out a very thorough exam and I was referred to the eye hospital the next day. It was very reassuring to know no serious damage and to get referred so efficiently to the hospital to be checked over

Recently got my new glasses from there. Great service , with Covid safety in place. Delighted with the eye test and new glasses, I can now read with my lazy eye for the first time in an extremely long time. My previous optician had decided there was no hope for that eye! Very friendly staff and service.
