Hope Valley Opticians
We are pleased to be accredited to offer the NHS Minor Eye Condition Service (MECS.) We can provide this service to any patients with a Derbyshire based GP. If you develop an emergency eye complaint then please contact us by telephone and we can discuss your symptoms with you and arrange to see you in practice if necessary.

As essential health care services we can remain open as usual. Please remain assured that we are still carrying out rigorous cleaning, sterilization of our practice and equipment and we wear the required PPE. Appointments are suitably spaced apart to allow for social distancing.
Services
Hope Valley Opticians is a modern, independent practice situated in Hathersage in the beautiful Hope Valley, part of the Peak District National Park. Established in 2005, we offer a full optometric service taking the time to treat each of our patients as individuals. Pay us a visit and experience our excellent customer service from our friendly, professional staff.
At Hope Valley Opticians, we provide a wide range of contact lenses including daily disposable soft contact lenses, monthly wear soft lenses and rigid gas permeable lenses. Contact lens technology has developed hugely in recent years. In particular, advances in silicon-based materials mean that modern lenses are much more breathable and hydrated than ever before.
Rigid gas permeable lenses (RGP lenses) which are fitted closely to the shape of your eye and are less flexible. The vast majority of contact lenses fitted in the UK are soft lenses. They are available as single-use daily, fortnightly and monthly disposable lenses, and more specialist lenses that are designed to last for longer.
Your contact lens practitioner will advise you of the best contact lens system and care regime for your type of lenses. This may include additional cleaning procedures, such as rubbing or rinsing. Disinfection involves soaking your lenses in solution in a storage case for a specific period of time.
Astigmatism is where the cornea (the window at the front of the eye) or the lens inside the eye is shaped more like a rugby ball than a football. As soft contact lenses mould to the shape of your eye your astigmatism will still be present when you are wearing the lens. This means that you will need a toric lens to see clearly.
