The Red Lion is a traditional country pub in a quiet location in Freshwater on the Isle of Wight. The bar is comfortably furnished and you won't be deafened by music and the log fire burns peacefully throughout the winter. The Isle of Wight countryside around the pub is amongst the finest in the country and is a haven for walkers, golfers and those who like to take a step back in time.
The Red Lion is the ideal venue for a traditional ale, a glass of wine or a meal from our blackboard menu which changes daily. We are open 11:00 to 23:00 Monday to Saturday, and 11:00 to 22:30 Sundays. Food is served 12:00 to 3:00 and 18:00 to 20.30 daily.

Just the best pub ever on the island. My daughter lives just down the road from it, so that is good. Food is amazing, had steak tonight always very good. Staff so very friendly. Fine with dogs, certainly our three dogs which we took there tonight. If I could give 10 stars I would. Fab place to eat or just for a drink♥️

This is lovely place tucked away next to a lovely church. The food is top notch, even the sandwich selection - I had grilled steak with onion jam, the steak was so soft and it was served with salad leaves and crisps. Washed down with a pint of Ghost Ship! A nice walk along the nature trail afterwards.....

This a pub, with a long pedigree of good food,: we were not let down, a delicious starters, with a second course was just as delicious. The chips, tripled fried were to die for. The presentation of our meals was that, akin to a four / five star hotel. Service was good, and very clean, you may choose to eat out side, should you desire. Thank for meal where three families, all sorry to leave; The Chinese meal plan for that evening was cancelled. Thank you

Excellent. We turned up on a wet and windy late September evening on the off chance they had a table for dinner. The very pleasant lady behind the bar found us a table that was already booked but we had enough time for a quick meal before the booking arrived. What can I say? The food was top notch and service was reminiscent of rural bars in France. We never felt rushed and the waiting staff were there when we required them but incognito when not. In our experience this is not often mastered in Britain. All told an excellent experience and we will not hesitate to recommend the Red Lion to our friends
