Not good ! Expensive prices for very small food portions eg chips and sandwiches.
Have been happy here in the past , so surprised. Perhaps staff shortages play a part , but we were put off returning.

Our Christmas dinner was amazing, everything we could of wished for. Also came a couple of days earlier and had the garlic chilli prawns and mackerel pate which was also excellent and a great dog friendly pub

Looking for a dog friendly pub we decided to give The Mayflower a try and popped by for a quick drink with my husband and our little dog. The pub was quiet and felt really cozy and welcoming. Will definitely be coming back.

Had a lovely meal here a couple of months ago and thought we’d try it again today. I had the fish pie again and, although it was very tasty, I’m sure it was half the size it was previously so I wouldn’t choose it again. My husband enjoyed his meal but I left still feeling a little hungry. Having said that, the service was good and it’s a nice place to eat.

All good except the price.. £15 for a burger and skinny fries and limp salad.. I've had better food for half the price. This event triggered a conversation about the covid rebound and how to fund struggling business. Got the feeling the price was inflated because of the struggles they have no doubt faced.. but then added another surcharge because we were a larger group (10 people) which just made us feel they were pushing it a bit too far.. other than than service was good and had a nice early October sunny cider..

Amazing. I stay in at least 30 hotel rooms a year and this was the best pound for pound I've had. stayed in many a lovely hotel local to the mayflower but this will be my hotel of choice everytime I'm in the… area from now on. ground floor suite was out of this world and I literally stayed to the last minute before checkout. the food in the restaurant was divine and as good as any fine dining experience I've had. only negative (and many a hotel fall foul of this) a full English breakfast needs more than one sausage. 2 eggs great 3 bacon great but one sausage just doesn't cut it but that

Nice place, we very much enjoyed our overnight stay with our pooch. Food was very good, service a little slow at times. The room we had was mostly great with a lovely bathroom. However much of the furniture is damaged and looking tired. Room was cold on arrival as the radiator was off, perhaps they could turn them on prior to guests arriving? The fact all of the original leaded windows are bowing inwards with an actual gap in one letting in a draft didn't help.. I think we expected a little more given the price.

Terry and his team are so friendly & welcoming.
Top to bottom a great stay.
Ample parking, quick and easy check in, the room was clean and spacious with a big bed soft duvet lots of pillows, Nespresso machine and jar of sweets. The well appointed bathroom had a lovely roll top bath and walk in shower both with great water pressure and fluffy towels. Dinner was first class, steaks cooked to perfection, and real comfort food deserts. Finally breakfast was just as good. We’ll be back soon.

Reasonably priced dog friendly pub.
Food was hot when served.
Whitebait was very good as a starter. Don't go for the steak and ale suet pudding - this not what was served. Not a great deal of meat.
Overall a decent venue for a group event.

We had an unplanned Sunday lunch for two adults after a walk and pound the marina. We both had the Sunday roast and could find no fault at all with the meal. The beef was rare, as described on the menu, and the pork belly was perfect with the most delicious crackling. All the vegetables were perfectly cooked and the portions were just right.
The table service was good and we will definitely recommend to our friends.

Beautiful eatery by the harbour. Extended gardens with terrace. Limited menu on the day we came due to staff shortages but still plenty of choices. Food was a bit on the pricey side but was very nice.
