Chequers Inn
The Chequers Inn is a picturesque traditional 16th Century English Pub located between Keyhaven and Lymington. A 'hidden gem' running along the ancient maritime pathway on the edge of the historic Lymington Salt Marsh and Nature Reserve. It is an ideal 'watering hole' and a halfway house, or destination, if planning a coastal walk along the pathway which affords stunning views across the Solent to the Isle of Wight and beyond.

The pub offers a warm welcome to walkers, hikers, dog owners, families, locals and visitors alike. All the Traditional local Ringwood Ales, largers and soft drinks, tea coffee available from the pub bar. Stop for a bite to eat, lunch, dinner serving traditional english menu and daily specials. Ring 01590 673415 for reservation.
Services
When you visit the Chequers Inn you really will be experiencing a little bit of history. Documented deeds for the Chequers Inn go back to 1695, distinguished by the chequered sign, originally hanging from the roofs eaves and the local sign probably originates from the fact that the Salt Exchequer Offices for the local salterns had their headquarters at Lower Woodside Green.
We certainly do not consider ourselves to be a Sports Bar, but we do host many sports events on our big screens out in the courtyard, especially major Rugby and Cricket matches. These include the Six Nations Rugby and International Test Cricket. The atmosphere in the courtyard during these big sporting occasions is the next best thing to actual being there.
We warmly welcome, and are able to cater for almost any form of function or event. Our unique courtyard, which incorporates its own private bar is ideal for birthdays, reunions, staff / corporate events, wakes, christening, and weddings! Please call to arrange a viewing and discuss your requirements.

The Sunday roast's we're great and that's it.
No childrens menu, sorry you don't have a children's menu.
If you like sitting on a table that is wet and mouldy, in a wet and mouldy tent with the wind blowing through it I highly recommend.

Just had lunch here with my sister and her family including a 6 and 2 year old.
Lovely pub with lots of character. A great outdoor undercover seating area with big screen TV and patio heaters.
Food portions were very adequate and all in our party enjoyed their meals.
I went for the battered cod and chips and certainly won’t need to be eating dinner tonight.
If you’re in the area it’s well worth a visit. It’s off season at the moment however it was still pretty busy. We didn’t book ahead and were fortunate to get a table. Probably best to book ahead if going during busier times.

Food was lovely, but could have been warmer. Meals didn't come out at the same time. The roast beef was delicious, best I've had, so tender. Good atmosphere and friendly staff.

Great pub, large under cover outside area with big screen for sports, and cosy and traditional inside. Good atmosphere. Not a huge amount of options for our plant based pals, but food is good.

This a nice country pub. It had a choice of real ales. Not much in the way of vegetarian food but I believe they are operating on a reduced menu at the moment. The service was quick and friendly. I know everywhere is supposed to be well ventilated but with the door left open it was a bit on the chilly side.

Dropped in needing sustenance after a bike ride.
Garden was closed for some reason, so say in the tent at the back which was a bit scruffy, but then so were we!
Sunday roasts were great, good quality and quantity.
Friendly service and good beer.

Brilliant day, we caught the ferry across and walked back along the shingle path which is a bit hard going, lovely views and a very interesting place, I fo think the castle would benefit from signage in the rooms but we did not take the audio tour so maybe we should have. Still had a fab time here, you can see the IOW Needles from there too

Always good value. Friendly service. Great garden and covered area. I think in common with other pubs they have difficulty getting staff at the moment as I found the wait for food much longer recently but it's a very popular destination and worth a visit. Sea bass excellent!

A very local pub with a yachtie person's feel. Welcoming to strangers too.
Proper pub grub at reasonable prices and a good selection of beers. Having been here, in the summer, a few years ago, I can also attest to the garden area as well.
A bit of renovation in the loos wouldn't go astray.
