York House Caravan Park Whitby
York House is set in 4 acres of the beautiful North Yorkshire moors countryside, although still only a short drive from the coast. We offer both electric and non electric pitches, glamping pods, tent pitches and hard standing pitches for tourers. We also have a hotel and bar on site providing both food and drink alongside a shop which provides anything you may have forgotten and much more.

With being a family managed park you're guaranteed a friendly welcome and a clean site. We are situated less than half a mile from the old railway line, which makes easy walking or cycling to Whitby, Robin Hoods bay, Ravenscar and Scarborough. With only being a 5 minute drive into Whitby it gives you a great opportunity to go explore the beautiful town and take part in fun activities the town had to offer.
Services
Tents must not exceed the maximum size allowed per single pitch(please see diagram) Sorry but no gazebos are allowed, awnings are permitted with an additional supplement. The maximum size of a single tent on any one pitch must not exceed 4.5 meters x 4 meters or 2 meters x 4.5 meters when a car is parked on the rented pitch.
Our on-site shop provides milk, sweets, and gas sales. It also doubles as a tourist information center, with leaflets and ideas about things to do in the local area. Also there will be a friendly face should you have any questions. We can also offer an ice pack service if requested. Our modern toilet and shower block has good lighting, central heating and is very spacious.
The Old Railway line (Whitby to Scarborough) - A lovely walk / cycle on the flat (well nearly). You can have a pleasant walk / cycle to Whitby or Robin Hoods Bay which is about 3 miles, or cycle to Scarborough which is about 17 miles. There are several cafes between Robin Hoods Bay and Scarborough.

Nice Park but very muddy pitches in winter. Electricity is not included in price, you have to purchase pre paid cards on arrival. Helpful staff, clean facilities, nice views and pet friendly.

The site was a lovely spot friendly staff to greet you in reception and the pub. The pitch hard standing was a bit small as we have a long caravan. Would rather pay a little more on the fees than faffing about with the electric cards as it was a cold and wet weekend. Great atmosphere when we went for food at the pub and a lovely roaring fire and the breakfast on Sunday morning was huge and lovely. Will definitely be going back

Very sad day I have left our caravan after 27 years after the owner decided to get rid of the long staying residents WHY nobody knows!!! I find him a very rude and obnoxious man who shows not one bit of emotion or empathy towards his loyal customers and we have supported him through the last 2 years of covid paying our ground rent.but since then he… has changed to a rude man who does not care has he told someone I’m a business man. The caravan has been a very big part of my life and I have made lots of good friends who I may never see again and they have been my family since I lost

Lovely campsite well spaced. Good toilets and shower block. Just a shame the cafe/bar didn't do food on a Sunday evening.

Nice quiet site for couples and families who want somewhere with good facilities. Stayed here in one of the camping pods for a couple of nights. The rates were competitive and the camping pod itself was a good size for fitting two camp beds and a little bit of space for our bags and gear. There were bigger family size pods available on the site too for larger groups or folks who wanted room to set up a camping table and chairs inside, but as we were planning to be out most of the time we went for the smaller size one. The shower and toilet block was a good modern building which was cleaned daily

Nice site and friendly staff. My only gripe is the showers, which work on a pushed button system (as many do) but you only get a few seconds (5-10) of hot water. Made getting a shower very difficult. I had to press my back against the button, but that only allowed a decent wash on one side.

Lots of potential here. Lovely staff, our hardstanding pitch was tight on room not helped by a inconsiderate neighbour who wanted every blade of grass and didn't offer to move his car to aid access however this is no reflection of the campsite management.
Dry for us so can't comment on drainage. Pitch was not level but wasn't a issue. We'll within the adjustment of our caravan.
Ideal location for access to local attractions and amenities.
Tariff for electricity was very fair. We are high consumers with two older kids and their devices but only use £5 over four night stay.
Showers basic but

This is a really nice little site. We really enjoyed camping here. Only 4 stars from me for several reasons- the toilet blocks are not the best. The pressure to the toilets is not adequate so the cisterns fill very slowly. This combined with a bad choice of toilet tissue makes for regularly blocked toilets. Both easy fixes and I'm sure that the site are dealing with them. Also, we were glad that we chose a non electric hook up pitch because the pitches with hook ups were under a large floodlight which was on all night. Not a problem for a caravan but terrible in a tent.
I still say though, this

At £30 a night we expected better. On arrival we had an additional charge raised for electric. After 30 years of camping this was a first. The sites for tourers are too small and people are allowed to invade other sites with awning and cars. We had to ask to be moved, simply to get some privacy. The toilet facilities were just bearable for the… ladies. The owners stupidly closed 2 out of 4 showers because of Covid but left open all the toilets and the sinks. In the gents there were 3 toilets. One toilet out of order, the second blocked for the entire weekend. The only toilet working
