Ty Elis, formerly known as Porthcawl Counselling, is a registered charity and a company limited by guarantee. We were founded in 1996 by Mrs Edwina (Ted) White MBE, a retired social worker, and Dr Richard Jenkins, a local GP. Although based in Porthcawl, they both recognised the urgent need for talking therapy across Bridgend Borough.

Please call us: 01656 786486. Our receptionists are empathic and friendly and will help you register for Counselling. It takes a few minutes. You must call us yourself to register. You do not need to go via your GP and you do not need a diagnosis. We are based in Porthcawl, Bridgend County Borough, but our services are open to anyone in South Wales and further afield if you can travel.

We offer a range of services for businesses, from big corporates through to small independent traders.

Ty Elis Counselling plays a vital role in our community helping people in emotional distress, but since our beginnings we have also been a key educator and educational resource for Counselling and Psychotherapy in South Wales. In order to qualify as a Counsellor you must have 100 hours of supervised practice with clients of Ty Elis.

Ty Elis is a charity. It is crucial to our ethos and our long term future that people, businesses and trusts donate to Ty Elis. Our aim is to be independent of money from the public purse through a combination of donations, not for profit trading income and trust income.
