Founded in 1990, we are an independent family funeral firm. Providing a caring, professional and worry-free service is our vocation, not just our business. Being an independent funeral director means we can concentrate on meeting the needs of our customer, not the business targets set by a far-off corporate head office.
We recognise that our customers are individuals and each will have their own ways of coping with bereavement. By listening and offering advice and guidance we believe we can help with many of the organisational tasks which have to be carried out at the time of a death. We have offices in Chelmsford, Braintree, South Woodham Ferrers, Burnham-on-Crouch, Hullbridge and Maldon from where we cover the majority of South East Essex.

Services
Having a record of your wishes can take away a great deal of stress for those who have to plan your funeral after your death. You can share Your Wishes with your relatives so they know what you would like/not like when the need arises. For advice or to have your wishes costed and possibly a bespoke plan created for you, share with us.
We are available 24 hours a day, every day. Just call any of our offices and your call will be personally answered by a member of staff, whatever the time. Once the doctor has attended and confirmed the death, call us and we will make arrangements to come to the house and bring the deceased into our care.
Bereavement can be a confusing and frightening experience. The loss of someone we love fills us with sadness and distress and we feel like we are falling apart. Staff at Paul J King Funeral Directors recognise that once the funeral is over and friends and family have returned to their normal routines, the bereaved are often left feeling isolated.
A position as a part-time Administrator/Funeral Arranger for our Maldon office has arisen - 2 days one week, 3 days the next week plus alternate Saturday mornings. To carry out administrative duties to ensure the smooth running of the office and provide an efficient and sensitive service for clients.
Any of our offices will be able to answer any questions you may have about your funeral arrangements. We have also put together some answers to the most frequently asked questions below to help you. However, funerals fill an important role for those mourning the loss of a loved one. They provide a way for family and friends to share thoughts and feelings about the death and often are the first step in the healing process.

Absolutely wonderful staff that made a very difficult time better. They went beyond their duties in order for the day to run smoothly. They were also very kind, understanding & patient which is so important during such a sad occasion. I wouldn't hesitate in recommending Paul King - Just wish I could've added more stars!
