First opened in 1990, Birchanger Butterflies Preschool has grown and developed into a highly respected local pre-school facility. In our own well-equipped building and beautiful rural setting, we provide a safe, caring and stimulating learning environment for children aged from 2 to 5 years old. Our experienced nursery staff encourage creativity, independence and confidence to enable each individual child to realise their own potential.

Children settle with ease in this calm, welcoming environment. They develop affectionate attachments with staff. Assessments are precise and used effectively by staff to support children's on-going development. Children are enthusiastic learners who follow instructions well. Reflecting on Quality, the Alliance's accreditation scheme, supports early years settings to deliver the highest possible standards of education and care for children.

Activities Report

Activities are planned taking in to account children's interests this has included castles, prince and princesses, lifecycles, animals. Also within these plans are the children's next steps in learning, ensuring that the activities are most relevant and appropriate for the current children. All activities are planned around the Early Years Foundation Stage.

Staff Report

We aim for a high adult to child ratio. At least four staff are present at all sessions. We welcome the extra help of parent volunteers whenever possible. The staff regularly attend training courses to update their educational and professional skills such as Child Protection, Health & Safety and First Aid.
