We have a wide range of frames from 25 upwards and a fantastic range of the latest designer eyewear including Lindberg, MYKITA, Flexon, Chloe, William Morris and Ted Baker. You'll find we're really competitive about the cost of your glasses, because we know it's important to you.
We've partnered with Maui Jim to bring you the clearest views, the brightest colours and the most stylish frames for men and women. A good UV blocking pair of sunglasses is essential to protect the health of the eyes from the sun's harmful rays. High exposure to UV light increases risk of cataract and macular degeneration, and use of UV blocking sunglasses has been proven to reduce this risk.
As we are an Independent Practice we have a fantastic variety of types and brands of contact lenses. Proprietor Glen Ward has over 35 years experience as a qualified dispensing contact lens optician and specialises in fitting keratoconics. He has lectured on the subject of contact lenses to other Optometrists around the UK and is fully qualified in fitting all types of lenses.

Late on Friday night, my wife could not get a contact lense out of one of her eyes, it was becoming painful and her eye was very sore. We are 15 minutes from the Loughton branch, but unfortunately Glen Ward was working at the Southend shop. After a very long day on Saturday, well after the shops had shut, Glen drove home via the Loughton shop, after 6pm and dealt with the problem, quickly and efficiently. I honestly cannot think of many, if any, business owners who care about their patients/customers the way that Glen does. He went over and above what most people would do and my wife is so grateful

Very grateful to the team at Scher & Ward in Loughton who really went above and beyond to help me after I accidentally broke my glasses. Within 24hrs of contacting them I had a replacement pair of glasses with temporary lenses to help me get through the weekend whilst my lenses were on order. Two days later I had my new glasses. The team are very friendly and went out of their way to support and advise me, showing real pride in their work. Thanks again!

I had my glasses stolen from a hire car and I cannot thank Glen and his team for all the help they have given me. I texted him on the Saturday evening and he immediately responded and I had a new pair of glasses within a few days. Outstanding service which is impossible to find on the High street these days

Fantastic optician and receptionists. I have been coming here for years and am always happy or looking forward to going in as the staff are warm and welcoming. I feel that the service is always specific and personal to me, I don't get the same feeling I do when going into major retailers for glasses or lenses.

If you care your eyes you must visit this place.these guys have state of the art equipment to get the picture of deep inside of your eyes. When mine eyes were examined, two different opticians separate to each other looked on the results and decared my eyes "young eyes" that was based on specific pattern around the center of the eye.
I do not remember name of that specific test but it's so beneficial it not only tells much about your eyes but also if there's are other conditions developing ,say like cholesterol etc etc.
Have trust on Glen and his team and you ll be good.
