A full summary of your healthcare team at Wellington Medical Practice can be found on 'The Team' tab above. We aim to deliver safe and fair healthcare for our patients at the appropriate time based on medical need. This will involve the use of allied health professionals to provide a wider variety of clinicians for patients to see.

This means we may not always prescribe a drug. Tablets are only part of the treatment for most medical problems. We will guide patients to other resources or sources of help and will work closely with other organisations to support our patients. We aim to helping patients better understand their conditions through support so patients have confidence with their medical problems.
Services
I am married with a young daughter and we enjoy visiting National Trust and English Heritage attractions. I trained at Birmingham University qualifying in 2006 and I completed my GP training in 2011. I enjoy all aspects of General practice but my areas of interest include training future GPs at the practice.
We recommend an influenza vaccination for the over 65s and patients with chronic illnesses, such as bronchitis, diabetes, asthma or heart failure. Appointments are each Tuesday and Friday for any blood tests or you can access the walk in service at PRH. Our Nurses offer a range of dressings appointments, including staple and stitch removal, simple wound dressings and complex management of chronic wounds including compression dressings.
GP practices across Telford and Wrekin are participating in the delivery of a national extended hours service, giving our patients access to additional appointments up to 8:00pm in the evenings and at weekends (now also including on Bank Holidays).

Please contact the surgery in the usual way either by phone or in person and if you wish to be seen in the extended hours clinics we will be able to book into an appointment across the multiple hubs accross Telford and Wrekin. If you phone when our surgery is closed a message has been recorded with specific instructions on how to access the service.
STEP 1 - Before completing the registration forms please look at Wellington Medical Practice Boundaries to see if you live within our catchment area. STEP 2 - If you are within our practice boundary we look forward to you joining our practice. The first page on the link will say 'You must be registered as a patient with Medical Practice'.
The new, simple and secure way to access a range of NHS services on your smartphone or tablet. If your GP surgery is not connected, you can still download the app and use it to check your symptoms and find out what to do when you need help urgently. You can cancel appointments on-line but we ask that you cancel no later than ONE hour before your appointment time.

I use to grumble about Wellington medical practice a lot (as I think we all do -if you know you know-).. yes the phone wait is long and the fact I've not been it the surgery for an appointment due to the covid restrictions still. The service has definitely improved massively from what it once was, still room for improvement but the staff are polite and definitely seem more caring. Managing to get through to someone on the phone is definitely a break throw! Keep up the good work.

Absolutely appalled…Tried to register myself and my 5 week old son over 1 week ago as we need to be seen ASAP. Ended up having to call 111 anyways..Only just being processed today.
Iv tried calling several times with no answer. A receptionist called me to ask for my details to process my application. Just before she tried to hang up I wanted to ask a question..before I even got a chance to ask I was met with the response of “ah, no sorry I have to do this registration goodbye”. and hung up.
Why is this acceptable? If reviews are already bad…the service should be really addressed??

Received excellent service today so updating my previous review, today 27/07/2021 I got through within 15mins which was great. And received a callback within 2hrs and dealt with all my issues.
Have been on hold now for over an hour 02/07/21 and this has been the norm for years now, wondering if they will ever answer. Near impossible to get an appointment here. Surely they can/need to hire more staff?

Waited 3 hours on the phone and still couldn't get through. Impossible to get an appointment. You're better off just phoning 111

This place is an absolute joke! I'm writing this while I'm currently on hold and I have been on hold for 65 minutes and counting. Which is actually good progress because the previous 10 times I tried to call them I was informed by an automated message that they were too busy to even place me on hold.
I will be moving to a new gp practice after this.

Like many other reviewers here, the care is good and the medical staff are very good at what they do. The admin though is appalling. I have spent over an hour on the phone in a queue today because my prescription wasn't ready when I called into the pharmacy yesterday. I still haven't got through to anyone, the pharmacy still don't have my prescription, so I'll spend another night and probably the weekend in pain.
