The Mitre
Known to be the oldest pub in Buckingham, The Mitre is a friendly local of a type that's all too uncommon in the 21st Century. Beams, an open fire, and five real ales served directly from the cellar all contribute to a classic pub experience but aided by our new bar, revamped cellar and new pipework we can promise ales in the best condition and at the right temperature.

We are in the CAMRA Good Beer Guide for 2016, 2017 & 2018 and have been named Milton Keynes and North Bucks CAMRA Pub of the Year in 2015. The cottage itself dates from much earlier, some time around 1420. The Mitre is also shown on a Rutgers map of 1661. There are also records of the pub attracting rents for the Lord of the Manor of Gawcott and Lenborough, including a Quit Rent that was to exempt them from military service of 8d per annum.

Really attractive old pub but not only that, a great selection of ales in a friendly environment. Open fire Really adds in the winter. Not a local for me but one I would make a trip too.

Best pub in Buckingham. Canopy above the garden so you’re kept dry. Friendly, cosy feel indoors.
A must visit, especially at Christmas

Range of ales wasn’t as big as I was expecting. Asked if we could sit inside and was told there was no space ( even though there were lots of tables free inside throughout our stay).
We were told that we only had 30 minutes left at our table outside even though there was lots of other tables of the same size free and we found we could have booked a table online so it wasn’t fully booked. But we decided to take our customs elsewhere.
Outdoor space was nice and order website worked well

Excellent evening, great set up with the ‘tent’ in the garden. Slick app, fast service and good staff. Might want to adjust how the app presents the drinks though, running joke of each person joining the group ordering a round of half pints didn’t grow old

Nice outdoor seating, not too pricey, however they stopped serving drinks at 8pm on the night we went.

I booked a table and walked into the pub and the girl on the bar was rude and short. It was my sons 18th and unknown to us another member of the family had booked another table. They didn’t seat us together or remotely near. it us really put me off this establishment and it won’t be recommending it to anybody be else.
If you work in a service industry don’t be short and rude to people.
It’s Simple disappointed!

Proper freehouse, serving TT Boltmaker and some local Blackpit Brewery cask beer.
Both in top condition, quick service and dog friendly!
