This attractive and mature 18-hole (par 72) course of some 6,643 yards was established in 1902, and later redesigned by the great golf course architect Colonel S.V. Hotchkin, whose golf courses at Woodhall Spa, Ashridge and elsewhere are among the finest in the country. Hotchkin was renowned for crafting holes into the natural terrain, and The Links is no exception.
A strong par 5 to open, played into the prevailing wind. The drive requires a carry of 150 yards over the gallops to a wide fairway narrowing at about 200 yards to provide a challenge for the longer hitters. Most players will lay up on the left side of the fairway short of the cross bunkers leaving a short iron to the green which is protected by a copse of trees on the right and bunkers left and right.
World-class horse racing, The National Stud, The National Horse Racing museum, and the choice of staying at the highly regarded Jockey Club Rooms, Bedford Lodge Hotel, or numerous other hotels. Nowhere else in the world feels quite like Newmarket!

For anyone new to golf this is a fantastic start point a few changes happening to make it an even better course and practice facilities .. for the seasoned players it's a good course to play and the club house is really welcoming ...good food very reasonably priced and the Team are all exceptional at what they do. The Pro shop is so helpful with a good range and fair pricing ...the pro golfers are all really keen to get your play to whatever standard you are aiming for and they go out of their way to help ... all appreciated esp in covid times .. had to review it's from so many people I've spoken

Played in a regional club competition for the first time here. The course was a good test, especially in the wind. The club house pleasently layed out, staff were friendly and courteous. The food was fresh and value for money. The Pro shop was well stocked and the Pro was very helpful. Would recommend a round there but not for the faint hearted.
