Services
We are a small family-run Guest House and aim to make your stay with us very welcoming (home from home). We have a charming old victorian terraced house built circa 1839 which backs onto the only remaining victorian square in the whole of the north of England. There is a very large car park to the rear so you will not have any difficulty parking.
A warm welcome awaits you at reception and when you have checked in you will be shown to your room personally. We issue both front door and room keys so you are free to come and go as you please. We are more than happy to assist you with booking a taxi, restaurant or any other venue, so please feel free to ask.
We can provide Single Occupancy, Twin, Double, Triple, Quad and Family accommodation. All the rooms are en-suite, except the attic room which has its own private bathroom at the foot of stairs. All are provided with towels and toiletries, tea and coffee making facilities, fridge/freezer, microwave, Flat Screen TV/DVD Players, Hairdryers, Irons & iron board.
Our rates are very competitive and offer a substantial Full English breakfast which is optional and can be added on the booking form, some rooms also have fridge, microwave. Our dining room leads out onto the patio where you can choose to eat, weather permitting. This looks out over the gardens towards the parking area and onto the Victorian square behind us.
We are in a residential area yet very close to the city, there are two public houses in the vicinity both serving real ales one of which has scooped the York CAMRA's Pub of the Season title, The Fox Inn on Holgate Road. Just a short walk to the end of Holgate Road is a charming little Italian Ristorante, Lo Spuntino.

This review is aimed at one room only in the hotel
Room 7. Shabby shocking and should not be let as a room.
The wallpaper is hanging off
There are 10 electric plugs running from one double socket. A toaster directly under a place curtain
And an unbelievably shocking small door.
The hotel does tell you about the door so can't do anything about it.
However the danger the rest of the hotel is in from the shocking electric set up is very dangerous and York Council have told us they intend to investigate and site visit from the pictures we supplied.
Also the hotel have ignored all attempts to

Nice room with a friendly host but can be a bit noisy if people up stairs start stomping about because the lodge is in an old house. (you will likely have the same problem in all the surrounding lodges). It's very easy to get to town. The bus stop is just outside and cost £1.20 to get to the city centre.
