Seriously poor! I thought my main meal was a starter when it arrived - Monkfish. Thing is it wasn't very good either.
Service was good, but the kitchen and management need to get themselves sorted. Just extremely disappointing. Needless to say that unfortunately I just couldn't recommend to friends and family.

Beautiful place, gorgeous decor. Sunday lunch was definitely worth pulling off the road for on a whim. The Roast pork dinner had lovely crackling and the biggest yorkies .. Yum! Would definitely recommend.

Booked this hotel with about 2 wks to spare and it was such a good decision. We turned up and the receptionist was extremely friendly with a smile on her face. The room was better than we were expecting for short notice and we were super impressed with the shower and the super comfy bed has made us come home and buy a new mattress! Lovely evening meal in the Conservatory with great, friendly staff all round. Would definitely return and recommend.

Very impressed overall with the hotel. Let things are
- room always cleaned to very high standard and new towels each day
- service and staff very helpful whenever I needed anything
- bar area and restaurant good. Restaurant food ok but we generally enjoyed the time we ate there.
- lots of parking and used easily as a base for hiking in the Lake District

We were there for 5 nights and I would come again in a flash. The rooms are large, super clean, well decorated, comfy bed, nice bathroom. Netflix on the telly although, after the hiking, not really needed. Good breakfast, lots of choices, from small appetite to a big breakfast to hold on for the day. The coffee could be better though.
The staff was super nice and friendly, really making you feel welcome.
As for the restaurant, it was amazing. Such great food, lots of options for my vegetarian partner, always very well presented, hot plates, great combination of tastes. Ate there 3 nights because

This place is my new place to stay when I'm in this area. I stayed for two nights with a colleague. The decor looks to have been recently renovated to a high and modern standard in the main hotel and bedroom annex. We ate both nights in the restaurant which again looks recently renovated. The food was delicious on both occasions. Compliments to the chief and owners of this fine establishment.

Welcoming and attentive staff. Great dinner and breakfast (had kippers) with quality choice fare. Only negative (will impact those who have mobility issues) is the lack of access. I followed disabled signage to the rear door but it was locked - no bell or handle!
Bedrooms in annex have steep steps, no lifts. Only ramp was from car park. Hotel needs an access audit to advise changes.
