The last twenty five years has seen us grow from nothing to a busy, modern, independent optical practice. We are contracted with the local Primary Care Trust to provide general ophthalmic services as well as providing a private service. The process of an eye test is very simple and thorough. We recommend you have an eye test at least every 2 years, or more frequently if recommended by your optician. The eye test not only provides an accurate assessment of your ability to see, but also gauges the general health of your eyes. The eye test can result in early identification of other eye problems such as high blood pressure.

Your eyes are simply extraordinary. Making approximately 200,000 movements per day, they are able to distinguish around 10 million colours. The eye is an incredibly complex organ that reacts to light, processes it and transmits it to the brain, allowing you to 'see'. The brain actually does the 'seeing' - the eye is the 'central processor' that takes the information in the form of light waves and transmits the information into the brain.

My elder mother was so attached to her over thirty years old glasses because she unsucsesfully tried many times to get used to new ones. Just who suffers with -18 prescription for miopia may understand how difficult is to get addapted to new glasses. They must be confortable, accurately done, made with the thinest possible material in the best suitable frame. Tom had the pacience to listen and answer all our questions for at least three times we visit his shop before ordering the glasses, so finally my mum is so happy with her new glasses that she

I have been going to red gold opticians for many years now and have found there customer service excellent in all ways from been greeted at the door to receiving my glasses been ready for collection. After having 3 eye tests at another local optician that wasn’t specsavers, that were booked for me by my partner to which none of the prescriptions were anywhere close to being right.
I Went in for an eye test, apprehensively at first with my glasses the other place had prescribed.
Got a 1st class service, the optician was very good, very knowledgeable and polite.
I was quickly told that the prescription my other glasses was wrong.
Then went out and spoke to Tom, who quickly helped me find a pair of frames that suited me, that were in my budget.
Glasses came very quickly, I think it was
