The Eyecare Centre was founded the 1950's and became the center for optical needs in the Brighton, Hove and the Sussex area. It was taken on by its current owners, London Optometrist Dr Sandip Doshi PhD BSc MCOptom, and New Zealand Dispensing Optician Mr Simon Brown FBDO in 2000 who previously worked together in London.
At The Eyecare Centre we offer a comprehensive eye examination using state of the art technology. Your examination will be scheduled for a full 25mins, allowing ample time for all procedures to be carried out in a professional, non-rushed manner by one of our highly qualified optometrists. The extra time allows all tests to be explained to you fully, so that you get a true understanding about the performance and health of your eyes.

I actually live quite far from Hove but I have been so happy that I was recommended The Eyecare Centre in Hove. I would happily travel any distance to be treated here because here I am treated by the best. Dr Sandip Doshi has perfectly looked after the most important thing in my life - my eyes!

The best optician. Highly professional. Sandip has on 2 occasions deallt with issues I have had with my eyes. He has gone out of his way to deal with the emergencies, been reassuring and provided successful treatment with clear advice. I will not go anywhere else - I highly recommend to anyone and everyone to go to the Eyecare Centre. I say that because I was fitted with contact lenses here at the age of 14 and 20+ years on, my family are seeing Sandip and team for our eye tests and contact lenses check. There is no hard sell, Sandip and team look after our eyes and give us their honest, friendly and thorough attention.

A disappointing experience despite having read good reviews. The male optician (Sandip) wouldn’t allow my 8 year old to attend her eye test without wearing a mask, young children are exempt under the age of 11 but he insisted this wasn’t true and told me I was incorrect in an aggressive way. He raised his voice and became quite rude, angry and told us to leave if my 8 year old wouldn’t wear a mask. All of this in front of my child. I spoke to the receptionist twice on the phone prior to our appointment, once to make the appointment and a second time when she phoned to confirm the appointment

Went for my first eye test since childhood, and was extremely happy with the level of service I received.
All the members of staff were helpful, friendly and professional throughout. Dr Doshi was very thorough and happy to take his time to talk me through all of the details, ensuring I understood every step. All of the equipment was top tier. The dispensing Optician was helpful and knowledgeable too, and helped me feel confident in my choice of frames.
Can't recommend this place enough!

I would fully recommend the eye care centre. Have been going there since I was a teen, now 36 and take my 3 children.
A few months back it was picked up that there was something going on behind the eyes and a quick referral to my doctors lead to a week in hospital. If it wasn't for my concern and symptoms being listened to this could have been a different review. All the staff are also very patient with the children. Couldn't recommend highly enough.

Only rarely post reviews but The Eyecare Centre is a cut above any other optician in Brighton and Hove. Expert clinical care for young and old backed up by the latest kit and super friendly service. The range of high quality frames they have is spot on.
I've recommended so many people who are struggling elsewhere to come to see Sandip and not one of them has come back to me with anything but praise and sorted eyes.

Rarely leave reviews, but the Eyecare Centre is a really brilliant local business that deserves the praise! I've been using them for over 15 years and have never had a bad experience. Sandip is thorough, knowledgeable and goes out of his way to ensure that his customers are completely happy. The whole team are friendly and professional and they have worked really hard to make the experience of visiting during Covid as safe as possible. They're great with my kids, have all the latest tech for monitoring our eyes and have a great range of glasses to choose from. Definitely recommended!
