Advances in technology (materials and designs) mean even more people than ever can wear contact lenses regardless of age or prescription, including having astigmatism or needing different corrections for distance and near. There are contact lenses available that will meet your needs, and we specialise in finding that contact lens for you.
One of our dispensing opticians will discuss your prescription, lifestyle and vocational needs to find the best ophthalmic solutions for you. A curved piece of glass, plastic, or other transparent material, used in cameras, glasses, and scientific equipment, that makes objects seem closer, larger, smaller, etc.
Children are often unaware of issues with their eyes, or vision and many eye problems may not give rise to any symptoms. Early detection is key to successful treatment of eye conditions and is crucial for their development socially and to the best of their ability. If there is a family history of eye problems, then children would be at a higher risk of developing one also.

Jerome has looked after my eyes since 2011 and I could not recommend him more highly. Aside from his highest standard of care and professionalism, I always come away from each appointment more informed and with more insight. I also like the independent model of the smaller opticians which, in my view, has the customer at the heart of their consultancy and care without influence from corporate targets or commitments to the supply chain. The customer service and admin back up from Cindy and the team has always been top notch too!

I recently had my eyes tested at Barnard Associates. Francesca Andersson carried out the examination. The initial testing was carried out efficiently and in a friendly manner by the highly professional optometrist. My distant vision prescription was unchanged, but my near vision had deteriorated and reading glasses were recommended. The internal structure of my eyes was then examined and a detailed description of the health of my eyes given. All was well. After the testing I was assisted when choosing some reading glasses, which were ready for collection within a few days. Thank you, I would thoroughly

Francesca at Barnards recently gave our one year old his first eye-test. We were a little concerned how it might go but we needn't have worried because Francesca was as kind and professional as can be. She handled the baby's tests perfectly. I was recommended to use this Optician and now I understand why, they are kind, professional, friendly and have a lovely human touch.

Highly recommend this Optometrists, my 4 year old has been treated by Jerome- he is just fantastic with children - put him completely at ease. The customer service is excellent, they really go above and beyond- and helped us out massively during the lock-down by fixing my son’s glasses at short notice.

I can hardly believe the difference in the unparalleled level of care provided by Jerome Chin Aleong at Barnard Optometrists, compared with previous opticians I've consulted over the past thirty years! Jerome took time to explain my treatment options for symptoms of meibomian gland dysfunction which had plagued me for months, and following his advice I am now symptom free. Now I also have a new pair of glasses which Jerome helped me to choose, and I am really delighted with them. Everyone in the practice is friendly and welcoming, and I cannot recommend them highly enough... just wish I had discovered

As someone who gets nervous when visiting doctors and opticians- I would not recommend. The optician I saw was at minimum rude and did nothing to put my mind at ease after a problem was spotted. He seemed to get more and more irritated with my explanations and worries regarding my eyes and the atmosphere was incredibly uncomfortable. I left as soon as I could and will be going somewhere else in future. One of the worst customer service experiences I've ever had, would not go back.

I have been attending Barnards for many years, more than 20yrs in fact. I’ve found them to be so helpful and caring. I have contact lenses and glasses and their service is impeccable. I wouldn’t dream of going anywhere else their treatment of me could not be better. I would recommend them with confidence to anyone in need of an optician.
