Lock Keeper
Situated just a 10 minute drive from Bristol and Bath, and a short walk from Keynsham train station, the Lock Keeper has it all; a stunning riverside location, with a huge beer garden, serving freshly prepared British, seasonal food. Not to forget, Young's award winning beers are always on tap. Plus, we have our very own Petanque pitch and play host to the Brunel league.

Whether it's a Sunday roast, a birthday dinner or a lunch time catch up that you have planned, we've got you covered. In the summer months there is no better place to spend a sunny day than in our beautiful beer garden on the banks of the River Avon. Our garden has outside tables for those who want to dine al fresco, we also have our decking area that has umbrellas and outdoor heaters meaning the unpredictable English weather can't spoil the fun!
Services
Originally called the White Hart, the Lock Keeper began its life as a private house whose occupier started brewing using water from the river and nearby well. Then it opened up its kitchen & fireside to drinkers and became an alehouse. By 1719 The White Hart was a licensed public house. On a warm summer evening a great stir and commotion filled the usually quiet and sleepy little town of Keynsham.
We pride ourselves on our seasonal, British menu which is packed full of the fresh ingredients and bursting with flavour. We focus on bringing you the best of British local ingredients in an all-day dining experience to be enjoyed in our conservatory restaurant & bar. Be it a traditional pub classic, a scrumptious Sunday roast or one of our vibrant vegan dishes, our menu is sure to delight!
After so many missed celebrations we know we're not the only ones who'll be making up for lost time, which is why we'll be surprising and delighting selected On Tap users with a complimentary drink on us this summer. Be sure to check 'Your Treats' to see if you have a treat waiting for you! Celebrating 190 years Young's!
Our huge beer garden is simply the best place to be on a sunny afternoon. Just imagine yourself sitting there with a glass of something cold, listening to the river Avon drifting past, the water falling over the weir, and the smell of our wonderful home-cooked meals filling your nostrils.

During the summer months, don't resist the temptation of our Burger Shack across the way, calling you in to indulge in one of our succulent burgers and maybe even a portion or two of the rather moreish curly fries.Even in the winter months, our garden provides a wonderful look-out from the decking area.

A real faff signing in to app however got £10 off but food was a massive disappointment. It used to be lovely. Wild mushroom risotto, sounds lovely but in reality wasn't. Very sparse on the mushrooms and was very salty, just tasted of the seasoning and stock cubes. My friend had the Homemade beef lasagne which she also thought was very poor. We both left half our meals and won't be returning for food anytime soon.

We've been here many times over the years and always enjoyed it.
The food is good as is the cider. Eating in the conservatory is lovely because it is light and airy.
The staff have always been friendly and efficient.

We ate there last night, the staff were excellent especially the Italian gent . We had a great starter , sadly choice of steak was limited to sirloin and rump , I prefer fillet . However it was loverly and… tender , but my plate was quite empty and only steak and bit of rocket on side , chips in a side dish ! Looked a little sad , no salad or peas or mushrooms of tomato. Whitch usually accompanies steak . The wine was excellent .

Had an amazing roast dinner today, we had the pork and lamb, both were perfect. The staff were all very welcoming and thoughtful, bringing sauce options and water before we had even asked. Even as it got busier, we were never waiting for very long. Highly recommend

Spent a couple of hours here celebrating my wifes birthday recently. The location, car parking were all very good, the weather tried it's hardest to disrupt the event but failed miserably. Our meals were all very good washed down with a good selection of ales and wines. A special mention must go to the manager who was a very understanding and generous host. We will certainly look forward to returning in the not too distant future.
