The Spotted Cow
The pub has a rich heritage dating back to Bedminster's agricultural past and has stood for over 200 years. We aim to provide a quality community pub serving up great food, drinks, and music. The pub also benefits from a large walled garden to the rear which is a great suntrap and a perfect oasis to escape from the city.

Thanks to the lovely wood burner in winter and our spacious garden we like to say we have a country pub feel in the city. Back in 2008 when we took over the pub we enlisted some help from our friends 'Milo Design' to refit the pub and they have created a warm, comfortable space with their unique touch, mixing both modern and traditional together perfectly.
Services
The Spotted Cow has a fantastic drinks selection and has one of the best stocked back bars in Bristol with an extensive range of Whisky, Rum, and Gin. We support local breweries with a regularly changing range of cask ales including Dawkins, Bristol Beer Factory, Twisted Oak, and many more and we are listed in CAMRA's Good Beer Guide.
Here at The Spotted Cow, we have a kitchen with principles based on solid British cooking. We pride ourselves on our good reputation and hope that the enthusiasm of the team shines through in our menus. Head Chef Iain Webb has based the ethos of the kitchen on good ingredients sourced from the best local suppliers used to create interesting dishes based on classic recipes.
Swiss Tony is best known as a local DJ/band frontman and all round celebrity and he decided to find time in his busy schedule to dedicate every Tuesday at The Spotted Cow to his very own brand of light entertainment. Whether you fancy yourself as a master of trivia or an expert on Pop there are plenty of chances for a great prize if you enter the BIG QUIZ, also take a chance with Tony's 'disco balls' in the ROCK 'N' ROLL BINGO.
We like to do things our own way, and here's what our lovely patrons and the press have said about us:. This spacious downtown gastropub oozes unpretentious sophistication, from the candle-lit minimalism of the decor to the chilled Sunday jazz DJ sets. Food is also a big deal here. You'll find classic pub grub brilliantly reinvented with locally sourced and organic ingredients whenever possible.
The menu makes for interesting reading, not least because the Cow have extended their 'local, sustainable, ethical' food-sourcing policy to include 'grown on the premises', with a roof garden providing many of the vegetables and herbs used in the kitchen. Some gastropubs are, truth to tell, wannabe restaurants that feel fairly uncomfortable places to pop in to for a pint.

Fairly decent pub, but, not got the most expansive range of beer, only takes card payments, and charges £1.80 for a half pint of lemonade.

Have had such great meals here and beers.
Definitely a fan of the roast and would come again for that - especially now that we moved even closer!
Really love the back garden vibes and it’s always worth a trip for a pint or two.

Beware! Overcharged for three beers, had to challenge cost but received no apology, just a reluctant refund of the over charge. Beer was ok not the best kept in the area. I would suggest this place when in full flight is exceptionally noisy and a breeding ground for CoVid. A disappointing visit so early in 2022.

Sunday roast was totally overrated, cold and disappointing.
We were super excited to eat at The Spotted Cow after managing to get a reservation on the Monday for the Sunday. With the place being often fully booked out for a roast we had high expectations...and at £15 a plate we thought it would be pretty good.
However despite being some of the first people to have roast on the Sunday as we booked a 12:30 table, we couldn't have been more disappointed with our meal.
The meat was cold and very fatty ( we both had beef). The potatoes tasted like grease as did the roasted vegetables; they also

Sunday dinner was high quality and had an amazing flavour. We had to wait a while but got offered some free drinks for our trouble so that was a nice surprise. That's what I call service! Excellent friendly staff, thanks again.

Nice Pub and plenty of tables. Decent enclosed garden. Nice food but took a long time to serve even though it was quiet when ordered. Table wasn't cleared after food finished even though food being served to other tables. Why can't staff clear as they walk back to kitchen empty handed. Drinks were expensive and they don't take cash. Won't be revisiting.

Fabulous food at very reasonable prices, delicious and beautifully presented. Friendly and helpful staff too, I asked for a slight change to the dish I wanted and they were happy to accommodate.

The Spotted Cow seemed to be a very cosy pub, with a lovely beer garden. The waiters were very kind and helpful! Extra point for them. I had a "Work in the pub" deal, which was a bargain for a tenner. The sandwich was so tasty, I devoured it before I could take a picture... I do recommend this place!

Quiet when I arrived here late lunchtime on a wet Wednesday, but having eaten elsewhere, I wish I hadn't.
This establishment has a sophisticatedly decorated interior in grey and cream with black vinyl settles, an interesting menu and six real ale hand pumps all accredited with the Cask Marque certificate.
The atmosphere also is more refined and salubrious.

We popped into The Spotted Cow for some lunch and had a lovely time. The service was great - they were really friendly and gave lots of information about their beers and Sunday lunch offer (which we’ll definitely be back for). Also great helping me with my allergy requirements!
We had fish finger sarnies for £6 each and the quality / taste was delicious. All ingredients locally sourced and they have their own growing garden upstairs for herbs etc.
Lots of seating and a lovely back garden with plenty of space too.
