Services
The Specialist Contact Lens Practice was first established in 1973 and was the first of its kind to be devoted to fitting contact lenses in the UK. Our specialist practitioners offer over a decade of optical experience and are supported by a dedicated staff team who have a wealth of optical knowledge.
The first people you're likely to come into contact with will one of our team of Optometric Assistants all of whom have specialist training and together have many years of Contact Lens experience. As well as booking your appointment and helping with your paperwork they will conduct some of the preliminary assessments using our specialist equipment and teach you how to handle your lenses.
The Specialist Contact Lens Practice is conveniently located in Birmingham city centre, directly opposite New Street Station. We are situated on the corner of Lower Temple Street on the first floor above Caffe Nero. The entrance is next door to the Shakespeare pub. We are in a pedestrian only area so there is no car access.
The Optometrist (or Ophthalmic Optician) has "A" level entrance along with University degree training and is qualified to examine the eye for normality and carry out sight testing and the fitting of glasses and contact lenses. Although they are not a doctor they are highly trained and qualified specialists who can recognise and treat, most common eye conditions and abnormalities.
As specialist contact lens fitters, the equipment we use is vital in determining the best lenses for your needs. Some items, such as the Non-Contact Tonometer and Visual Field Screener, you may already be familiar with whereas other items are what set us apart from the competition.
We spend as much time as is necessary with each of our patients to ensure our recommendations are perfectly tailored to your needs, and this includes a thorough and detailed pre-screening procedure for everyone.If you are a regular sight test patient, you may already be familiar with Retinal cameras.

Absolutely amazing service. I was diagnosed with kerataconus 4 years ago and went to many different places to try and get my contact lens sorted. All places turned out to be pretty much useless since the contacts they’d give were either too uncomfortable or never provided good enough vision. When I found this place however, it literally changed my life. Jude and Adrian know what they are doing and you can literally put your life in their hands and you will not regret it. They take time with each patient and genuinely care for you. Got my life and confidence back with their service!
