For many in York, Coverdales Opticians is a household name and generations have had their eyes cared for by us. Coverdales is one of York's few remaining independent Optometrists. We've been in the City of York for over 150 years - starting as a pharmacy in Gillygate before moving to Parliament Street where the Coverdale family had a pharmacy, dentist, optical and photographic department.
When you come to visit us at Coverdales, you will be met with a friendly reception and guided through the eye examination process in an unhurried atmosphere where tests will be fully explained and you will be encouraged to ask questions.
If a prescription for spectacles is required, you will be assisted in your selection of lens and frames which will best balance your needs and your budget by our fully qualified and registered Dispensing Optician, Julie.It is important to have an eye examination as it can detect early signs of eye conditions such as glaucoma and macular degeneration.

Have used Coverdales for several years and always had excellent service from Michael Jowett who recently retired. The high standard of service continues with the wonderful Josephine Johnson aided by Jen and Linda. My recent appointment was relaxed, friendly and professionally handled by all. If you want attentive and highly satisfactory service for your optical needs then Coverdales is a business I would recommend to all.
