We are a mixed animal practice with surgeries in Strichen, Fraserburgh and Peterhead, and have been caring for the animals of Buchan since the 1950's. Because we are passionate about animals and strive to provide excellent continuity of care, one of our pet clinics is open seven days a week and all our clients have access to 24-hour emergency care.

To help keep us all safe, please do not attend the practice unless you have a pre-booked appointment, or have arranged to collect food/medication.
Services
Our aim is to provide a modern, friendly and courteous service to all our clients, whether on farm, stables or in any of our modern, purpose built, small animal pet clinics. We have two modern and well equipped pet surgeries based in the Peterhead and Fraserburgh town centres. Our Strichen surgery has pet consultations each weekday morning and a late surgery on Wednesday evenings.
Here at Buchan Veterinary Clinics, we're very proud to have so many enthusiastic and dedicated individuals working in our friendly practice. We are all passionate about animals and their well-being, from our veterinary surgeons and qualified nurses to our essential support staff. Highly trained and caring, each of us has a role to play in making this a special practice for you to visit with your animal.
In the event of an emergency during normal opening hours please call your local surgery and you will be advised what to do next. If your call is during the night, weekends or Bank Holidays whilst our clinic at Buchan is closed please call 01771 637670 where our out of hours service will be provided by our Buchan & Deveron Out of Hours & Emergency Care team in Strichen.
Marc is a small animal vet mainly based in Fraserburgh. He is one of our two German vets. Before starting vet school and graduating in 2016 he was already fully qualified as a vet nurse. Outside of work, he likes to go fishing and hiking with his wife and dogs as well as playing a proper board game.
She enjoys all challenges within practice but shows particular interest in surgical nursing, nutrition and emergency care. Samantha has recently become a clinical coach and now enjoys training our student nurses. In her spare time she likes running, cycling and spending time with friends and family.

Was good with Max to begin with when he was young but explain to me why give a dog who is unsteady and has no balance nausea tablets when he wasn't being sick and to do me £150 for the privilege. And no he isn't better, he's worse. 😪

Absolutely brilliant vet clinic. Staff are wonderful, calm and friendly. Very caring and we feel safe handing our animals over to be examined while owners can't accompany them in the pandemic.
We always feel comfortable asking questions and despite what I'm sure are significant time constraints, the vets always make sure we leave feeling informed.
Also worthy of praise are the reception staff who are skilled artists in keeping panicking owners (me) calm in emergencies.
We are very glad to have moved into the area covered by this practice.

Alistair & Mark at Buchan are two of the best vets Iv ever met. Both have given huge time & care on several separate occasions to my rescue dog who can be very fearful & reactive as a result of his fear. They both have been extremely sensitive to his needs and taken the best care when examining him and treating him. So professional and I felt in the best hands. The whole team are caring & lovely. Thank you

I want everyone to know how incompetent Buchan Vets Peterhead are. Something happened to my 5 year old dog 3 weeks ago and one of his back legs was paralysed. He couldn't walk on his own. He was not in pain and he didn't seem to be unhappy as his behaviour and reactions did not change. We had an appointment on Saturday morning and were given 3 options: steroids, MRI scan referral (costing ~£2000) or euthanasia. We've decided to try the tablets first. The dog had a check up on Monday afternoon and we were told that his condition is getting worse and if we can't afford the scan then they need to
