Harwell Primary School

We have a large playing field and playground. We also have one football pitch and three adventure play areas, a 3G Artificial Grass Pitch (AGP) and a Swimming Pool with changing rooms. The AGP and Swimming Pool are available for hire. At the edge of the field we have a wild area where we can study flowers and trees.

We want to take this opportunity to introduce ourselves and the role we play at Harwell Community Primary School. Whilst Bryn Gibson, as Head Teacher, is responsible for the management of the school, the Governing Body has an important part to play in raising school standards. We set the strategic direction for the school, ensure financial accountability and monitor and evaluate school performance.

I have a long association with Harwell Primary school and I am currently in my second term as a Governor. My wife originally taught here and all three of my children were educated at Harwell Primary School. I have always been very grateful for the excellent all-round education received at the school, which embodies all aspects of education, not simply academic.

At Harwell School our vision for your child is to help them to develop a love of learning, along with the skills and the ways of thinking to excel at whatever they choose to do in the future. To provide a happy, caring, safe and secure environment which encourages and stimulates children to learn and to achieve their full potential.

In 2012 Ofsted launched a new School Data Dashboard which will provide a snapshot of school performance at Key Stages 1 and 2 and can be used by parents, school governors and by members of the public to check the performance of the school in which they are interested. The Dashboard complements the Ofsted school Inspection Report by providing an analysis of school performance over a three-year period.
