Awd Tut (Old Tom) was a fisherman and the owner of this Whitby cottage in the 1800s. He lived here for many years with his family. You can see Awd Tut in the sepia photo below taken at the turn of the century. Our cottage, now a Grade Two, 17th century listed building was originally built in 1640 and used as a fisherman's home for many years.
We sometimes offer 5% for just 2 people staying (using 1 bedroom) at other times of the year - (Sunday to Thursday inclusive *except School Holiday periods) Please ask. For groups larger than 3 persons staying in Awd Tuts Cottage there may be a small supplement added on to the discount prices shown.
We are literally 20 metres away from Whitby's working fishing harbour and in the very centre of the 'old town' cobbled street area. This will allow you to get directions to the property. You'll also find lots of other useful information showing what's in the nearby local area of our cottage. The old town of Whitby has numerous arts and craft galleries.
In booking Riverside Holiday Cottage you are getting a spacious 3 bedroomed cottage with 3 toilets and 2 bathrooms set in a super, scenic location right on the riverside. You get so much more for your money than one single hotel room. Riverside Cottage offers scenic views in a tranquil location overlooking the meandering River Esk.
Riverside cottage is located in a beautiful, serene, woodland area of the North Yorkshire Moors National Park. The cottage is set in a beautiful green area of natural beauty surrounded by neat well trimmed lawns. There are quite tame ducks and geese on the nearby riverbanks which really do expect you to feed them on a daily basis.

We stopped at Awd Tuts Cottage for the first time October 2021. Very impressed! Loved the Cottage so much Character and very clean! All beds made up on Arrival. Tea,Coffee, Sugar and Milk supplied which was very welcome after our journey. The kitchen was very well equipped with lots of Plates,bowls,mugs,glasses,cooking utensils and More!
Books to read, games to play. Lots of information about the cottage and the family who used to live there. Also a folder full of old photos of local Whitby people.
The cottage also had a large ground floor storage room with Freezer, Washing Machine,Dryer, clothes

We loved this cottage, clean, comfortable, everything that you needed, outdoor seating. Great location, the centre of Whitby, on the harbour edge, near the bustle, but a peaceful spot, perfect. The owners are friendly and helpful, especially around changes with covid lockdowns. We will definitely stay here again, thank you.

We had a most enjoyable time at Awd Tuts, everything was perfect. The cottage was a lovely, warm haven to go back to after being outside in the cold - we visited the first weekend after coming out of lockdown therefore all outside seating.
Mike and Louise were very helpful, providing lots of information - from parking tips to local eateries.
We cannot recommend this place highly enough. We will certainly be back :-)

What a wonderful little stay! Awd Tuts cottage is great, amazing venue right on the harbour. The cottage was so comfy and clean, couldn't fault Mike and Louise at all as they ensured we had all we needed to make our stay as perfect as possible. Would definitely recommended a stay at Awd Tuts and we'll be coming back at some point, maybe even try Mike and Louise's other cottage in Whitby.

Just spent 4 nights at Awd Tut's in Whitby. The weather wasn't great but we still had a great time. The cottage is in a perfect location and well equipped, the bathrooms and kitchen were immaculate with antibacterial wipes and spray left to keep the place clean during our stay. We would definitely like to return to Whitby and Awd Tut's.
